An extra long release extends .550" down from the trigger guard housing allowing the shooter to reach in front of trigger guard and push down to release magazine without moving the trigger hand from the grip. Drop in fit requires no modification to the rifle. Designed to work with benchrest/sandbags situations. Also fits the Ruger 10/22 Magnum.

I installed the blued ...

I installed the blued version on my SSteel/lam. 10/22T, it looks great! I had a frustrating time using the factory release, this is a great inexpensive add-on. Push out the cross-pin, drop the trigger assembly, and be sure to note how the old one fits in the magazine release. Most of the cross-pins glide out easily--so...don't loose one.

Finish is decent on this. Looks like it is painted rather that blued or parkerized. This is really only an upgrade of the factory magazine releases because it is metal. The newer 10/22s come with a extended release but they are plastic. This isn't any more extended than what comes with the newer 10/22s. Go for it if you have an older 10/22 with a flush mag release. I installed it without a problem, but for $18.99 you could do better in terms of finish and function.

Works much better than the plastic factory job. I noticed it is ever so slightly thicker than the factory one and fits more snug (obviously). Despite this it works great and has a more positive feel to the mag release action. Works great with the Ruger 25 round mag that I also received. Nice upgrade for the price.

This Magazine release almost installed itself. It works and looks GREAT!!! Its hard to improve the Ruger 10/22, but Volquartsen has managed to do a great job with this magazine release. I can and will recommend this product.

Nice looking part but it was no longer than the factory part and it's so "fat" that there is very little space between this and trigger guard so it was difficult to do a fast mag change. I would skip this product!

Have had this in my 10/22 for a few years. Fit and finish was fine. The only complaint I have is, the spring could have about double the tension. It's a little soft allowing the possibility for accidentally hitting it.

Know how to disassemble ...

Know how to disassemble the 10/22 because this product does not come with any instructions! I downloaded the manual from the Ruger website and after looking at the manual's pictorial guide it took less than 10 minutes to replace the old release with the new release. It looks and operates like a brand new Ruger 10/22 since the new ones have this type of magazine release. What a sheer joy to be able to remove the magazine so quickly and cleanly! Definitely worth the money!

I had a little trouble fumbling with little parts and big hands, but after getting it in it is well worth it. Really makes changing out magazines quick easy and quiet. A real plus in cold weather. I believe too that this one will work without snagging clothes, which is what I think would happen with the other types.
