I shot some of these through my S&W 360 scandium J-frame revolver with 1-7/8" barrel. and was surprised how light the recoil was. Felt lighter than some of the non +P slightly heavier .38 ammunition I was shooting. Accuracy was on par with most other ammo I've shot through the same gun; not great, but what you would expect from a snubnose.

I have tried all types of .38 special in my Ruger LCR. Buffalo Bore (both non plus P and plus P (the latter being a real monster in the LCR)), Remington Golden Saber and the Hornady non plus P version of this ammo. The plus P Hornady's gave me the most consistent groups out of all ammo tried. I shoot a little to the left of center, which I believe is too much finger on the trigger. Never less, this ammo at least printed a tight group, while none of the other ammo listed did not. Recoil in the LCR is snappy but manageable.

Just shot a box today and was very pleased in my Ruger LCR low flash and clean burning powder.This cartridge is a fine buy and I will carry this as soon as I buy more.

Overall, these are solid ...

Overall, these are solid +P loads (with very similar ballistics to the once popular "Treasury Load") at a really competitive price. I mixed a cylinder of these with my current carry load, Speer 135 +P GDHP's; I could not tell the difference in terms of recoil, but I did note some visible flash with this load. Shooting more, POI was slightly low for me but still very much functional. Through the rest of the box, they had enough snap to put the cylinder release into my thumb if I didn't give a good solid grip. The red tip has the feel of a pencil eraser, or perhaps a rubber bump stop, and while my only "performance" information is from 2nd hand sources, I believe it'll work as others have shown. I'll carry and shoot this purchase in my full-size guns, but for my J-frame, I'm not "feeling" it; I'm going to stick with other heavier/slower loads that I've come to trust.

I purchased 2 boxes of this ammo to try in my new S&W J-Frame 442. This ammo functioned perfectly and proved to be very accurate. Sharp recoil in the little J-Frame but that was to be expected. One note, the velocity of 1270 fps for the +P load and 1175 fps for the standard pressure load that is listed on the product description as well as what is listed on the box is incorrect. Actual velocity of this ammo is 1090 fps for the +P load and 1010 fps for the standard pressure load. I contacted Hornady for the correct velocities. Otherwise, great load and will probably be my carry load in my new J-frame! Hope this helps.
