The CMMG 300 AAC Blackout (7.62x35mm) Barrel features 1 in 7" twist rifling and a carbine length gas system. The muzzle is threaded 5/8"-24 for use with muzzle brakes, flash suppressors, or sound suppressors. Gas block and gas tube not included.

The barrel is composed of Chrome Moly Steel and finished inside and out with CMMG's durable Weapons Armament Surface Protection (WASP) Melonite treatment. The unique Melonite treatment applied to the barrel surface-hardens the metal, extending barrel service life by reducing friction in the bore and lessening bore surface wear. Also referred to as Nitriding, this treatment produces an extremely hard, slick surface on steel that resists carbon adhesion and increases corrosion resistance, making for easier cleaning and maintenance. Nitriding converts the steel's surface without any build-up, retaining all of the benefits of traditional chrome lining without suffering the accuracy degradation commonly encountered due to uneven application of chrome inside the barrel's bore.

I just received this barrel the other day and it is my second 300 BLK build (which I highly recommend getting an adjustable gas port and an H2 buffer to get full use out it). This caliber rifle was designed with a silencer in mind, but has some great performing supersonic rounds. In fact, someone that lives in a state that has a minimum caliber of .243, then this upper could be used to hunt deer. I would not recommend using this to hunt deer that provide 800 yard shots, but while hunting deer in the woods this would be perfect. Best part is that you can use the same magazines, bolts, and hammers that are used for 5.56NATO or .223 Rem. The case is made from a 5.56NATO brass that is cut down past the neck and fitted with a .308 diameter bullet. 220 - 240 for Sub, and 110 -165 for supersonic. The cryo-quench method used to strengthen the barrel is very noticeable. It would not surprise me if this barrel fires many rounds before needing replacing. For $200.00, this is a great barrel for your next build.

Sent the first barrel ...

Sent the first barrel back for refund. Muzzle threads wouldn't accept brake. I now have number 2, they sure look nice. Same problem with muzzle thread. I purchased a die and solved that problem to discover that the threads don't get very close to the shoulder and my shiims wouldn't fit over it. I guess I'll find out if the die will cut the finish and move the shoulder back some. Lastly, there is no dimple for the set screw type gas block. Personally I can't recommend it unless you have a gunsmith that works for free. I also have Wilson and AR Stoner barrels in 300 blackout. Much nicer and no problems.

I used one of these in a build a while ago. The one problem with it was the threading on the muzzle. I'm not sure that it's actually 5/8x24. On the bright side, the first round out of a cold barrel regularly goes through the bullseye. Subsequent rounds print very close as well. Creating one ragged hole in the target at 100 yards is a regular occurrence. I mostly use 125 grain Speer TNT bullets and H110 powder in Remington cases. It likes the powder charge to be close to maximum for best accuracy and functioning. I've tried two boxes of the Remington 220 grain subsonic ammo. One box didn't operate the action, but shot to the same point of aim as the 125's at 50 yards. The other shot two mils low but operated the action. Both were very accurate though.

Installed on my upper effortlessly using free float tube and quad rail gas block for hunting lights and thread protector. Even without a muzzle brake or flash hider, the recoil is mild. Finish is nice and seems durable so far. Using handloaded 110 gr V-Max bullets in resized .223 LC brass, it shot a 1.1" group on first three shots.After breaking in the barrel, it consistently shoots much better than I can. Ordered from Midway on Tuesday and got it on Saturday, New Years Eve!

What a great barrel, this is my second 300 blackout build and installing the barrel was a fast and easy. The rifle cycled subsonic and supersonics with no problems and the range test went great. Accuracy was 1/2 inch at 100 yards.

Love this barrel fit and finish is superb I used a yhm lo profile gas block all supersonic ammo cycled and shot perfect. Subsonic would not cycle with out a suppressor which that will be the only time I shoot subsonic.

The WASP finish is really ...

The WASP finish is really tough and looks great. I have accidentally dropped heavy things on the barrel while shuffling things around in my storage closet, and never got a scratch on it. When I finally installed it on an upper and took it out to the range I was able to get great groups at 100yd with a scope, and good groups at 50yd with just iron sights. I am not an experienced shooter, I can safely say the new rifle I put together with this barrel shoots way better than I do. So far no malfunctions at all, works great with a relatively new 5.56 bolt from a previous build. I have a feeling it will keep running reliably for many years. I am giving it a 5 because of the great quality and very good performance at a price that is half of the more expensive brands out there.

Put this barrel together with Midway parts / Model 1 free float tube / EGW gas block / DMPS complete bolt Upper flat top A3 gas tube and other small parts from Midway. I took it to the range with a fixed 6 power scope Leapers & rings also from Midway. I was astounded by the accuracy of this short 16 inch barrel. Subsonic loads did not always cycle but the supersonic reloads all shot without a hitch locking back the bolt on empty clip. Ten shot clip accuracy was one ragged hole at 75 yds. Using 168 gr Sierra MatchKing reloads Chrono @ 1755 fps The Subsonic Remington 220 also grouped one hole groups. You can purchase this without any second thoughts great product from Midway and fast shipping also. Thanks Midway.

Very well made barrel. Grouped well with supersonic loads of Vmax 110gn and H110 powder. Cycled good and bolt locked back on last round. Kinda unsure about the WASP coating though, not much info on that. Other than that I'm very satisfied with the barrel and this has become my go to rifle.

installing this barrel was a breeze. The accuracy was great. At 75 yards I got a .25 group with 110gr loaded with 20gr of lil gun. This was a weiry buy, I was very uncertian of the caliber. After test firing with 110gr and 150gr I found this caliber to be quite capible of doing almost anything a 30-30 can do, but in an AR platform.
