Perfect for fingertip control over crosshair placement and unmatched accuracy. The Fire Control Rest gives the shooter precision and repeatability when sighting-in, developing loads or in competition. Features glass smooth internal mechanisms that allow the front bag to be moved up, down, left or right to adjust to wind shifts or shot placement, stainless steel leveling feet, 5' of downrange adjustment and locking cradle to secure the firearm are some additional features.

When I first saw the Caldwell shooting rest in your catalog I wanted one right away, but it said it was coming soon. It was well worth the wait. As soon as I received it I went to the range to try it out. I have two Weatherby 22LR's, a bolt and a semi-auto. With the new rest I immediately reduced my grouping with the bolt from a little over 3/4 in. at 50 yds to a little under a 1/2 in. The semi auto dropped from about 1 in. to a little over 1/2 in. I'm using a 4-16 power target scope and at 16 power the control adjustments are fine enough to move the cross hairs to just where you want them without no jumping around. This rest sure beats using sand bags. I am totally satisfied with the rest. Caldwell really got their act together when the designed and built this rest.

This is my 3rd and final shooting rest I have purchased. I like that the adjustments on it are very tight and do not move much after shooting larger caliber rounds. Personally, I am not a fan of the lead sled series because the rifle doesnt mount into your shoulder pocket like it should. This mount allows you to fully mount the rifle into the shoulder like it should be!

The one I used functioned flawlessly. It was easy to adjust, and held adjustments in a satisfactory manner. I don't like the rear support. That should be a flat plate for a regular rear bag. The front bag is real shoddy too. This is a nice rest for a casual shooter, such as a handloader developing loads, or: a hunter that wants to carefully zero his rifle(s). Just a reminder: This rig is NOT acceptable for NBRSA or IBS sanctioned events. The front and rear rests cannot be connected or touch each other in those jurisdictions. Good Shooting, my friends!

This is a nice rest but ...

This is a nice rest but it is not a heavy duty F class rest capable of supporting Rifles in the 17lb class.Joy stick is nice but the stock Bag is very small and you will need to replace it.I would recommend this product to someone looking for a upgrade over a Bag.Ian

I am truly impressed with ...

I am truly impressed with the design and functionality of this rest. The movement of the front bag is smooth and steady and has helped me to consistently shoot better groups than with my previous shooting bag set up. I'm not sure why some shooter's are reporting that the control arm hits the rifle, the arm itself rotates 360 degrees and can be positioned out of the way quite easily. In my opinion it is a hard rest to beat!

I am very disappointed in ...

I am very disappointed in this product, it is difficult to adjust, will not hold the adjustment from shot to shot, the length is not correct for any firearm in my collection, and the rear support will not properly mount any stock design that I use. I would not recomend this rest to anyone.

I purchased this rest ...

I purchased this rest along with 2 others, the Lead Sled and the Shooters Ridge Zero Kick Shooting Rest. Initial impressions: nice quality overall - not a Sinclair or anything of that nature but the best initial quality impression I've had with any rest designed for us average working Joes, vs. high-end shooting competitors. Some design kudos for Caldwell on the front rest forearm stop (for consistency) and the lockable feet, another nice feature which was implemented well. Testing: Unfortunately it was about 2 minutes after starting that I too (like a prior reviewer) found the verticle height lock knob stripped out and I hadn't even gotten to the range yet - I was just playing with it at home. Nonetheless I proceeded to try 4 different stock styled rifles. The first was a youth-length (12.5" length of pull) Bell and Carlson Carbelite stocked Rem 700 short action Mountain rifle. Next was a full length stocked Rem 700 LSS laminate BDL stocked rifle. After that I tried a Rem 700 PSS, which uses a McMillan stock from the factory with a semi-beavertail forearm. Lastly I tried an Accuracy International stocked tactical rifle. Final Impressions: versatility across the stock types was disappointing. The fit on the front bag was often only ok and sometimes very poor, but my first thought was hey, you can change out the bag. What isn't made blatantly obvious though is that this is -not- a standard-sized bag. You cannot use standard rest bags on the front as this one is much narrower. I don't know where you'd get a different one, other than the very poor quality nylon unfilled second back they provide - and let me stress, that bag is horrenous quality, made in China. Second, I found the rear cradle fit to be just so-so at steadying the rear of the just about any of the rifles I tried, and as you can tell from the design it also does little to nothing to reduce recoil, nor will it allow you to shoot even partially free-recoil when working up loads. I received the Caldwell ...

I received the Caldwell Fire Control Full length Shooting rest today and I think it will work out with my Bushmaster Stainless Varmint Rifle Long Range Target Shooting. The big negative issue is the fact that the Rifle doesn't park onto the Rear Rest in that the rest just doesn't grasp the AR-15 stock securely. The Pivot arm interfers with the Rifle even though I utilize the shortest 5 round magazine. I plan on redesigning the pivot arm so it will be a couple more inches clear of the Rifle. Caldwell needs to deal with the pivoting arm not clearing the AR-15 rifles. I plan on making the pivot arm adjustments and I believe I will put the Fire Control to good use.

This rest won me over ...

This rest won me over with high quality contruction and feel as well as ease of use. Getting back on zero is a snap and the platform is as steady as any I have ever used. The front bag could be a bit wider, but that is a minor complaint, overall I was very satisfied!
