A molded black rubber recoil pad adds length and helps reduce recoil. Rough serrated face for secure hold.

Notes:

Due to variations in stocks, it may be necessary to grind the sides of the pad for proper fit.

Pad will work with the M1A and the M14 rifle.

Bottom screw too short to ...

Bottom screw too short to reach sling swivel on SA walnut stock M1A. Masen response to email "supposed to work, longer screw not available" I am "supposed" to be happy with an inferior product and no support. Guess again!

This is more a butt plate ...

This is more a butt plate than a recoil pad as the material is fairly hard plastic rather than rubber, but it's not slippery and the aggressive ribbing keeps the rifle from sliding off your shoulder. Mine was nicely finished with a smooth surface and clean molding. The filler block at the top, comb of stock, sticks up a bit and there is a slight gap. I put mine on a brown military surplus synthetic stock. For those who want a perfect drop-in fit, you will be disappointed. However, for the shooter who would put in a little time and effort to trim down the filler block and use a bit of AcraGlas or Bondo to fill in the small gap, you will be satisfied with the results. I had no problem with my stock bottom screw being long enough to secure the pad. It's not as nice as the expensive recoil pad that is marked 'Springfield Armory' which is now available from them, but it looks good when modified and gets the job done.

I put this on a USGI ...

I put this on a USGI fiberglass stock. It holds my shoulder better than the metal. However, it is equivalent construction to the Pro-mag version-- swirls, bubbles and gaps in the rubber. It is very smooth and shiny. The rubber material is fairly hard-- just a step better than plastic. It is a bit large, but the worst is that the upper portion that extends back into the stock is permanently bent, and does not pull down flush with the top of the stock. Maybe it wouldn't be a problem on a walnut stock.
