Meprolight Tru-Dot sights are up to 20% brighter than other tritium sights. The front dot is slightly brighter than the rear sight to help the shooter focus on the target. Light tubes are sealed with a patented bonding process that makes them impervious to solvents and oils. Tru-Dot sights have a 10-year illumination warranty.

Followup to previous ...

Followup to previous review. I needed a replacement S&W rear sight screw because I damaged it during installation. I emailed Meprolight (Kimber) and they sent me a new screw under warranty no charge in less than ten days. No questions asked. I could not ask for better service.

I like these sights very ...

I like these sights very much. They give me a better sight picture both in daylight and and after dark. You will need to ream out the hole in the screw with a #50 drill bit. Also be aware that the Meprolight screw has a different thread than the standard S&W screw so if you need a replacement you need to get it from the factory.

Great sight. I mounted ...

Great sight. I mounted this on my Taurus Ultra-lite 44 mag 4". It took a little glass bedding to fit the front sight snug in the front sight groove. Then required a little rear sight work. Not drop in for a Taurus, but can be made to work properly. Sight aligns perfectly and is on at 15 yards. Sight looks like it was made for the Taurus when properly fitted.

Rear adjust screw could ...

Rear adjust screw could not accommodate the detent pin on my new 629. I had to drill the hole a little bigger. Same thing happened on another set I just bought for a 10 year old 686. The hole is obviously too small for guns new and old. Front sight sits too low and rear sight sits high on my 629. I have my rear sights all the way down and hit just above point of aim at 10 yards. Have to remind myself to place the front dot at bottom of sight outline, not line up top of sights. One thing that really annoyed me was after installing the sights on my 629 and a set on my 686 I put the instructions away (the instructions were with the sights in the package) and found the warranty card which was hiding folded inside the backing of the sight packaging. It said to fill out the warranty card before installing sights because they want the lot number off the bottom of the rear sights. That and the warranty card must be sent in within 10 days of purchase to get the 12 year limited warranty. Shipping took more than 10 days. They really don't want to make it easy to file your warranty.

Very nice sights, fit & look great on a S&W 325pd. I will order soon for my 625. Best upgrade you can do for a S&W 325. GREAT PRODUCT.

The dots are all the same ...

The dots are all the same color and brightness. The color of the front dot should be brighter/different color. I shoot indoor ranges and the front sight blends in with the rear sights color wise. The front sight should be a separate color or extremely bright compared to the rear sights. - Rear sight does not come with a spring or detent. If you loose yours you will have to order one and wait like I did. - Front sight is solid so you have to drill your own hole. This is best for personal customization.

I was initially ...

I was initially impressed, but unfortunately the front blade is too short for my S&W 625, bullets hitting the target about 5" high (at 5 yds) with the rear sight adjusted all the way down. At 10 yds bullets not even on the target.The front sight needed to be about .1" taller in order to sight in the weapon.

If you never have ...

If you never have replaced a S&W revolver rear sight, order at least one other set of detent and spring for the rear sight when you order any replacement rear sight. If you fumble the rear and the spring and/or detent pop out, you will never find them again, trust me. It also helps having the tools to do the job, but you can get away with a thin srewdriver and center punch to stake the screw. The front sight is ever so slightly brighter than the rears, also the white outline is bolder on the front. Just enough to let you know you are getting the dots mixed up. They work great.
