Installs fairly easily, ...

Installs fairly easily, although instructions weren't completely clear. Must remove hammer and retract two other pins to remove factory bolt release and install this release. Works very well. Does not lock back bolt on empty magazine. This still has to be done by hand. After inserting a loaded magazine, simply pull back on bolt handle and let go--it releases automatically as advertised. As others have said, this should be a factory standard on the 10/22.

I might be the only one that feel this way, from most of the reviews that I have read on the auto bolt release but I don't like it. I took it back out of my 10/22 and put the factory one back in.Sure it is easier to release the bolt over the factory release with this one, but it is harder to lock the bolt open with this auto bolt release. You have to keep fooling with it to find the sweet spot that will keep it locked opened. Since the 10/22 doesn't lock open after the last round, I would rather it be easier to lock open than easier to close.

I have used 3 of these and on one of my 10/22s I simply ground of the little hook in the heart shaped opening. The 3 I purchased function perfectly. The one I ground off, works pretty good, but I still have to lightly touch the bolt release lever.
Also, kudos to Midway. I have bought from them for many years, and have never had a problem of any kind. Great customer service, product selection, and shipping.

Ronco would agree...everyone needs one of these on their 10/22. This was my first ever gun mod so I pulled up a youtube video to watch the install. Had mine in and functioning in 30 min. Would have been faster if I wasn't a complete noob.

This is a must have item (in my opinion) for all 10/22 owners. It is low in price and easy to install. It is SO nice not having to "fiddle" with the bolt release. This should have been on all factory models, I don't know why they didn't just come this way.

Finally I bought something that doesn't cost a fortune and actually works like it is supposed to.The bonus is, I installed this myself on the kitchen table with minimum tools. I have no gunsmithing experience and this was easy. I watched a few vids on the internet and then copied step by step. Piece of cake and it works like a dream.

My most favorite mod of the whole gun. I hated how clumsy it felt to release the bolt with the stock setup, with this installed the bolt stays put and is easily released by just pulling the bolt handle back.

I didn't use the included instructions but I watched a you tube vid on how to take apart the trigger assembly and it was pretty easy to install. Also gave me a chance to give a good cleaning to my ruger. Product works great, no more hassle of holding the lever just right to release the bolt.

Purchased this along with an extended mag release, recoil buffer pin and hex take-down screws for both my custom target and standard carbine 10-22s. Installed everything on both in about 25 minutes and had them out to the range that afternoon. After so many years shooting with the cumbersome mag release it Everything functions flawlessly, just as expected.
