This is an excellent, ...

This is an excellent, excellent scope. In comparing it optically to some of the most expensive European scopes around, Schmidt & Benders and Swarovskis I have found it almost be their equal optically. I have owned those scopes or currently own them so I am very familiar with their strengths and weaknesses. The European scopes seem to have a very slight edge in color resolution and absolute sharpness, but the difference is very, very slight. Optically when everything is considered I would rate the Nikon as being 97-98% as good as anything out there. Mechanically this scope works as well as it does optically. Point of impact does not move when the power is changed. Checked on the range and on a bore sighting grid. It has a great deal of eye relief, and a very wide field of view. Windage and elevation adjustments seem to be dead on. This scope has the fast focus eye piece and side adjustable parallax. A lot of those expensive European scopes do not. This hurts the versatility of a scope to me. The one thing I wish Nikon would change is once you sight in the rifle, if you wish to reset your windage and elevation knobs to zero, you have to use a coin to loosen/remove the screws that hold the windage and elevation knobs in place. Then lift the knobs off the scope and reset. Very easy to drop and possibly lose a screw. Overall this is one of the best scopes I have ever owned. The scope is somewhat large and heavy, but appears to extremely rugged. They are not cheap, but to me are well worth the money.

I love this scope. It is super bright and clear all the way to the edges. I compared to many other scopes and none was brighter. It is on the heavy side but hey its a 56mm what can you expect. I would certainly recommend and/or buy it again.
