First of all this is an outstanding Barrel, both fit and finish. I had absolutely no problems mounting to an Armalite upper, and using a Mil-spec barrel nut. I elected to go with a Delta Ring setup; however there are a few mods that must be preformed. The barrel is fat period, and you're going to have to open up a standard handguard cap. The stock cap is .750, and the barrel where it needs to be mounted is .875. I actually I opened mine up to .985 and made a lock ring to use a carbine length MagPul MOE handguard. I than had to space the gas block properly. Technically the barrel is for a mid length setup.They must have fixed the size issue because my .875 PRI gas block fit with a few thousands to spare. Another thing to note is the barrel is threaded in an oddball size of .765-20. Only a couple of choices there, but at least you can choose a compensator or a flash hiding.Finally the upper ejection port needs to be opened! .045" on top and .100" on the bottom is good (No mods to the length is needed), and this with allow the brass to eject without touching the upper. Unmodified the brass won't even fit through the window. BTW: I open mine .050"(.045 is better) on top and the stock dust cover functions fine.Overall the completed upper is very light, and looks great. This is a great project for intermediate to advanced gunsmiths or AR fans. If you're new to this, I would suggest a standard .223 build because this is little more than assembling parts.Good Luck, Ron

I have not completed the ...

I have not completed the build with this barrel yet, but can offer a general review. The rifling and interior finish of this barrel appear well done. The exterior machine finish while uniform is quite rough. The O.D. at the gas port was too large to fit a Badger .875" I.D. low profile gas block. The Alexander Arms threaded muzzle brake will not fit the barrel as issued due to the O.D. behind the muzzle threads being too large. The threads at the muzzle were also quite rough. I think a build with this barrel will turn out good, but it is not a drop in build. Issues with dimensions will have to be corrected before a build can be completed.

I put on the Stoner barrel I waited 8 months for. I have to admit, judging from what I see the barrel was worth the wait. It is a sight to behold. I used a full length 8 sided fore end. With the muzzle break, it looks pretty tough. It shot good, jammed a couple of times (probably the mags). I take back the 3 stars I gave when I was waiting. Went together no problem.

The machining on this barrel was of the highest quality. Assembly was "fast, fun, and easy.!" The barrel/upper shoots 5 round groups -MOA all day ! This is the way to go if you want to build your own.

Know what your doing ...

Know what your doing before you start. LAR sidecharger uppers will fit with zero mods. The case is large so will not fit through milspec uppers. AA parts dont fit because its not an AA barrel. Satern parts will! You should know what your doing anytime building firearms in order to be safe and give products honest reviews

THE FIT WAS GREAT, A TROY INDUSTRYS LOW PROFILE GAS BLOCK, I HAD MY LOCAL GUN SMITH TIGHEN EVERYTHING FOR ME i DIDNT HAVE TO TOOLS, SEEMS TO FUNCTION WELL. THE UPPER RECEIVER I DID HAVE TO MAKE THE EJECTION PORT LARGER THAN THE 223 REM PORT, LITTLE DEMEL WORK, NO PROBLEM, WE, I ALWAYS WILL BUY MORE FROM MIDWAY, THEY ARE ALWAYS HELPFUL,

I have taken to indoor ...

I have taken to indoor range and never fails to start a conversation..always goes something like "What is that thing?" or " They let you shoot it here?" I have been shooting the standard flat tip 335 grain ammo. Recoil is not that bad. 12 guage is much more violent. Lets discuss the sound this thing makes. Wow! Words can't describe the thunder. Easy to put together other than you will have to open up the ejector port on the upper reciever. Removed .040" to the top and .100" to the bottom of the port. If you want something a little different than the standard nato round, check it out. If you reload, cost is not too much of an issue. It is truely a beast.

Barrel looked great when I first got it but thought I should complete the build before posting a review. Build went together perfectly, Troy .875 gas block fit perfect as well as the Talon AR-Stoner muzzle brake. The barrel has proven to be very accurate considering I'm using an Eotech. Great product at a great price considering the competition.

No complaints here, haven't shot much under 4MOA with it but considering my optic's dot is 4MOA it's not reasonable to expect small groups until I upgrade the sighting system. Fit and function are also flawless and I'm trying to get all my friends to buy one!

I've been shooting and building the M-16/AR family since November of 1965. I never thought see so many permutations of what we thought was a sad second choice to the M-14. 45 years later and I'm putting my Stoner Beowulf barrel onto yet another new-caliber upper for my AR. Had a King Armory brake put on, added a wee bit of weight to the bolt carrier and put a rubber slip-on pad on the stock. I am getting half-inch groups at 50-yards and just over 1-and-one-quarter-inch at 100 yards from a bench with Hornady FTX hand loads on a good day. This is a great barrel and makes a fun, to shoot albeit expensive, AR toy. I can't wait until I go deer and hog hunting. I can spend the next 5 months playing with different loads - decisions, decisions. This is a great barrel, Midway.

Wow! as always I am pleased with what midway has to offer, I love this company and am glad to live in the same state. Barrel was in excellent shape and packaging, chamber is insanely accurate and centered, completely flawless barrel inside and out. Thank you midway for carrying a barrel chambered in .50 Beowulf, have been waiting for quite some time to build my own from the ground up.

Barrel shoots nice! nice machine work, O.D.'s are straight less than .0015 taper across all 3 diameters. turned the threads down to .750-20 and re-threaded a JP tactical brake to .750-20. recoil is like a standard AR in .223. customer very happy! used a 15" hand guard from Midwest Ind. and the PRI low-profile gas block. gun shoots consistent 1/2 inch 5 shot groups at 100 yards with factory loads. thinking about building one for myself to put on a select fire lower! AW
