I bought this scope last year and put it on a AR-15 I have. I love it! The fine crosshairs are a pleasure to use. Optical quality is excellent. No quirks. Holds its zero. I have used it for taking hundreds of varmints from afar. It is one of the best values available for rifle optics in my opinion. Sure it's not my Vari-X III...it's also $400 less! If you are looking for an inexpensive, high quality scope, with optics that appear to cost more, this Tasco is a very sound choice.

Although the mil dot appears to be quite a deal, I have had a lot of problems with the clearity of the reticle and viewing the target when the power of the scope is set towards 9. It seems as if the higher you set the power the more of a problem it is. This may not be true of all Tasco scopes, but the two I owned both had similar problems.

I have a lot of guns that ...

I have a lot of guns that need scopes and got to the point where I could not afford a leupold for everyone. I have tried different major brands and I would rank this scope one of my favorites for what it is. I would say as far as clarity this scope is equal to or better than a Leupold VX-1, Vortex crossfire, and the new Redfield. As for longevity, I am not sure because I have only had this scope for a year however I do shoot 100-150 rounds of 30-06 every weekend and it has held up perfect thus far. Lately I have been using it for 600 yard plates and the mildot works great. I just put the bottom dot on the plate and bang every time(1' plates). Thing is this scope is not $500.00 or $1000 dollar scope so you have to realize its limitations. Such as the clarity on the highest setting and out at great distances the focus is slightly off. But for anything out to 400 yards you just cant beat it for the price. There is no fish bowl effect and its nice and bright. I usually only rate things when they are really good or really bad and I can say that this scope has far exceeded my expectation. I will purchase another one. Thank you Midway for keeping them in stock for such a low price.

I have the glossy version ...

I have the glossy version of this scope that I bought a long time ago. Somehow, the reticle rotated itself inside the tube so that it is now on a diagonal instead of plumb and level axis. Wondering if it was worthwhile to get it fixed, I checked warranty terms with Tasco. Even though they claim a lifetime warranty for this product, they farm out repairs to an outfit named ABO Inc., which charges $35 to look at the scope, and quotes a 7-12 week turnaround time. Hmm, $35 to fix a $55 scope? I don't think so. I would prefer to buy a Bushnell or similar if I were to get a cheap scope.

I have had this scope for ...

I have had this scope for a couple of years, but on shot with it twice at the range. I finally had a chance the take it hunting this weekend and the frist time I turned the magnafication ring, the crosshairs turned with it. Also, sometimes the reticle would turn, but the magification would not change. It is going back to Tasco for repair. I won't trust it next time when I take it on a hunt.

While for the money, this is a very nice looking scope with a smooth finish, clear optics, and durable finish, the dots of the mildot are hard to make out which will leave you using it more like a crosshair instead. Otherwise it is plenty usable for the price. Thanks MidwayUSA & Tasco.

I purchased this scope to replace a 4x fixed power on a HvBarrel 10-22. This is just what the doctor ordered. Great scope-gun combination. Used on varmint very effectively. Ordering another for my 77-22.

Very accurate. Has stayed ...

Very accurate. Has stayed on "zero" thru 400 rounds of .243. Mounted on Ruger 77 Varmint Special. 1" groups at 200 yds. with Ballistic Tip ammo. Only fault is the covers, they scratch way to easy and cannot be seen thru any longer. Owned this scope for over TWO years now. Will buy another one of these when I need it.

5 Stars for value, not ...

5 Stars for value, not amazing optics. The view through the scope is clear, and colors stay true. Not much different from my Burris FF2 in that department. The mil dot is very handy; go to http://www.eskimo.com/~jbm/calculations/traj/traj.html to print out bullet drop and wind correction tables in mils. With a cheat sheet you can make the mil dot reticle compensate for nearly any bullet, from .204 Ruger to 30/30 Win. With this scope you can also easily use clicks to compensate for drop and use mils for wind, or vice versa. The clicks are in 1/4", and the adjustment knobs have indexing marks that can be set to "0" after zeroing your rifle (a feature many high end scopes don't always have). The marks follow the clicks quite well, but the knobs themselves are not easy to grip for easy compensating in the field (they're not target knobs, but do have small handles). For the price you can't beat it; however the real concession with this one rather than a more expensive scope is durability, not sight picture. Mine has shown to be plenty durable, however don't expect this thing to stand up to heavy recoil; your probably asking for trouble. Mine sets atop an old savage .222 Rem and serves its purpose well. If you need a handy little scope on a budget, or just want to learn how to shoot with mil dots, this is a good choice. NOTE: I find that you can often get away with inexpensive scopes, but not with inexpensive mounts. Buy good mounts, I prefer steel.
