Bore Tech has created a unique way to dispose of solvent-filled patches that can accrue during the firearm cleaning process. The Patch Hog fits over the muzzle of a barrel then screws onto a plastic beverage bottle (not included). When done cleaning, the patches drop off into the bottle.

This is an excellent product, however it is not universal and cannot be put on all rifles. I.E. It is not compatable with an AR15 because you cannot slide it far enough onto the barrel the front sight prohibits this. However using a typical rifle I.E. Rem 700 it functions perfectly.

I have used my patch hog for over 10 years. I clean my guns at the kitchen table and in my opinion the bottle method is best to contain the splatter and patch mess. When all my guns are clean just twist the cap back on and discard in trash. The only caviot is on stainless steel barrels the rubber insert makes a black smudge on the barrel which easily wipes off with a solvent soaked patch or cloth. I highly recommend this durable product.

This thing works as advertised. The patches right off into the pop bottle. Not one bit of solvent on the floor. I cleaned 20 guns today and while it was a lot of work, my apartment stayed clean. The other thing that it does, if you are using a very strong-selling solvent like Sweets, this item helps the smell from spreading. The wet patch falls into the bottle and the bottle helps contain orders from lingering.

It works beautifully and is a real lifesaver for those who clean rifles in a one-bedroom apartment and can't leave a mess. It completely contains the patches and all spray from a brush. What a great device and it works just as advertised. One tip - screw the pop bottle into the hog only snug. If you go beyond that, you run the risk of splitting the seam. Highly recommended.

I got this device because of my desire to clean my shootin' irons into the evening after the days shoot. That necessitates a way to keep some really nasty solvents under control, and dang-sure off the floor! This device is a neat fix for the problem: just screw an empty water bottle onto one end, and slide the other over the muzzle of the barrel. It holds itself in place pretty securely with "fingers" of dense stiff foam the grip the barrel, holding the opening of the water bottle so the rod enters the bottle at evey stroke. Hence, the bristle splatter is contained, and if you use jags for patches as I do, so is the patch, which falls off into the bottle instead of onto the floor. It's a more comfortable, and therefore more thorough job done of cleaning than standing the barrel into a box, bag or can as I used to do. Clean-up is easy: throw the bottle away. You'll like this gadget.
