Tolerances for Shooting Star magazines and components are 50% tighter than military specifications which in turn produces reliable function and long service life.

I bought my full-size Springfield 1911A1 Government model the day after my 21st b-day (12 years ago now!) and it came from the factory with one of these 8-round mags... in the 12 years I've been using this mag, I've not encountered a single problem and it continues to feed incredibly well -- it's like butta! I've purchased and ditched many other mags from other manufacturers, but this Shooting Star mag is still faithfully serving me after thousands and thousands of rounds. In fact, I came to MidwayUSA today to buy a few more of these babies -- even for twice or three times the price they'd be a great deal.

After shooting 100 rds with my Springfield G.I. spec 1911-A1 this mag fell apart. Chip McCormick sent a brand new mag to my door ASAP. I did not have any feeding problems while the mag was working... and this company is willing to stand behind their product. At this price, I am willing to give this mag a second look.

Have run several hundred rounds of various ammo through these magazines, both round nose and hollow points. Never a failure or a jam. I have just a basic Rock Island Armory 1911. Highly recommend these magazines.

I had the same results as others did. I purchased two. One seems fine although I haven't shot with it yet. The other one seems out of spec. Went into Mag well hard and very difficult to strip out. Shipping the bad one back to Midway tomorrow.

Let first say that Midway has really been impressive with their shipping speed lately. The mags were ordered on Friday and I received them on Monday. Nice going. I purchased these mags to accompany and RIA Gi model. They fit, they perform and I have no doubt they will maintain their performance. And If the springs do weaken (which we should all check for and expect) I will throw in a couple of spring kits from McCormick. Buy with confidence. When you have to go to the trouble to put a warning on your package regarding patent theft even to the degree they offer a reward for information leading to the arrest...you know you have a great magazine.

I am satisfied with this magazine. It was very hard to clean before first use. Functions properly without any failures yet. I have Chip McCormick power mags and am very pleased with them. This magazine was cheaper and my honest opinion is, spend the extra money and get the power mags. The finish and feel is far superior to these. For general range use I would recommend this magazine.

When loaded with 8 rounds, they nose dive into the feed ramp of my PT1911. When loaded down to 4, they function. It doesn't matter what kind of ammo, hardball, JHPs, LWCs, all of it jams when loaded to capacity. Range mags only.

Ordered 2 of these mags after some cheaper ones that I ordered did not perform well. Put 150 rounds though each of them (I did condition them for 2 days before I hit the range) Neither of the mags jammed or caused miss fires in my Kimber Custom II, they load a bit hard by round 7 and 8 but that is my only complaint. They seem well built and for the time being, seem to be a great deal for the price.

I bought seven of these ...

I bought seven of these magazines while on sale, cleaned them up and hit the range yesterday with 300 rounds of ammo (100 rounds of 230 gr. round nose and 200 rounds of 230 gr. XTP's) and my Les Baer S.R.P.. While they fed round nose ammo flawlessly, if I loaded 8 rounds into the magazine with my 230 gr. Hornady XTP hand loads (OAL 1.230"), the first round consistently wouldn't chamber. It wouldn't even get the nose to enter the chamber. They mostly worked OK if I kept only 7 in the magazine, but even then I sometimes had to tap the slide all the way home and had one magazine give me some additional trouble. I also brought 5 of my Wilson 47D magazines and two of the magazines that came with the Les Baer to the range and they had no trouble with 8 of the XTPs in the magazine, so I think the issue is with the XTP load and the Chip McCormick magazines. I'd call this a good range magazine but wouldn't count on it for carry use with defensive ammo. We'll see how they work in my Springfield Loaded on the next range trip.
