My 1955 Garand operates ...

My 1955 Garand operates perfectly with the wolf springs. The compression of the old operating spring was obvious compared to the new spring.

I bought this spring kit ...

I bought this spring kit for 6 M1 Garand rifles that belong to my local gun club. I had the same problem with all 6 rifles. All the springs worked well except the main spring. My gunsmith told me ahead of time that I might run into this problem and how to solve it. The problem is that the mainspring is too long. I was told to shoot the rifle to see if it functions correctly which it did not (too much spring tension). I was told to cut off two coils of spring and shoot again. Keep cutting two coils until the rifle functions correctly. Each rifle needed the spring shortened and the amount differed from rifle to rifle. Thus I was actually tuning the spring tension to the rifle. It took some time to find the correct amount to cut off (two coils at a time) but as I said, cut a little at a time until the rifle functions flawlessly. All 6 rifles now function with no problems.

The main recoil spring ...

The main recoil spring was too strong for my M1 Garand. It would through my op rod out of track when I would shoot one round. Went back to using my US GI issued spring and had no problems. The springs are built tough but would not go in my Garand.

I had this kit installed ...

I had this kit installed by a retired USAR armorer who is now a professional gunsmith when I had my Wilson barrel installed. The springs have done well with Talon Industries reassembiled M2 Ball and my handloads or IMR4895 and Hornady 168gr BTHP Match bullets. I have fired short of 2700 rounds without one hick-up or concern. The springs function flawlessly.

Added to my Garand Build ...

Added to my Garand Build and was not disappointed in any way. Extra power hammer spring was a bugger to get in but I managed. Gun functions and shoots better than most Garands and shoots better than I can shoot it.

Don't know for sure how ...

Don't know for sure how much the spring set played, but can tell you I reconditioned a Korean-era M1 with this spring set, a set of NM sights and a Criterion barrel and shot a full 8 shot clip in an inch at 100 yards cold, right out of the box. Loads were WW748 with a 168 Nosler Match bullet. I'm not sure how you could ask for more...If anyone gets different results, I'd like to know, but I don't think this was a fluke. Performs too consistently, regardless of weather conditions.
