The M-2 tumbler works well. It comes with two tops, one is slotted. I assume the slots are to separate the media when you are finished tumbling; that's what I do. I invert the tumbler with the slotted top in place over a Rubbermaid bucket and run it for 30 seconds to remove the media, then turn it back upright and open the top and dump out the separated, clean brass. The Hornady M-2 works better than the Lyman I tried previously.

What a piece of junk ! The bowl was cracking and falling apart within 3 months of purchase. Last batch of brass needed duct tape on the bowl to keep medium from falling out. I gave it 1 star because there was no way to give a zero. Sent product back to Midway.

I'm very disappointed in this product. First of all, the bowl split after about 1.2 years of normal service. The unit was not abused or over-used. Typically 300 to 500 rounds of handgun brass every other week. Second, having spent the time and money (including return shipping) to send the tumbler to Hornady for warranty repair, after over 3 weeks their customer service reps are unable to provide any idea as to when it will be serviced. Due to this terrible customer service I will be purchasing another brand tumbler and think long and hard before buying any other Hornady hardware or material.

Bowl is made of real cheap plastic. I had used it less than two months and I noticed cracks in the bowl, I have tape over the cracks in hope that they will quit spreading. Would not buy again for that reason.

This product works great. Used Lyman green corncob media, 1/3 a bottle of brass cleaner, and 1/2 a dryer sheet. Nice clean brass. It is a little noisy to be in the same room, but I left it on in the garage while I worked in the house and didn't hear it at all.

Extremely dissapointed! For 45 minutes this did nothing to my once-fired brass except make me like my sonic cleaner that much more. This tumbler has turned into an expensive rock tumbler for my daughter. I tried three different media, and if I need to run it for longer than 45 minutes each, then I don't need it. Sorry folks, buy a sonic cleaner instead!

I guess I got one of the statistical bad ones. This tumbler is pretty quiet! The one I got started making a loud noise (after approx 1000 .45 cases) 15-20 minutes into tumbling. Not sure if it was a bad bearing or something further inside the electric motor. Midway was great and promptly exchanged. I opted for the exchange because this truly is a great tumbler! Cleans cases very well and very quiet.

I bought the M-2 as a replacement for an RCBS tumbler that failed prematurely. It is very quiet and doues a great job polishing ny .45 brass. I wish I had found it earlier.

This tumbler is very quiet and seems to work very well. I especially like the bowl design. My last tumbler had a bare screw in the center. This is designed ,for lack of a better term, like a bunt cake pan. Did I mention how quiet it was? My last tumbler was loud, luckily I used it in an exterior building. This one is quiet enough to use in the house with my sleeping 9 month old. I cannot speak to its longevity yet as I've only owned it about 3 weeks. My last tumbler ,a FA , crapped out after approximately 9 months. Thank you Midway for having great customer service as usual.

It works great ! I have cleaned thousands of rounds of 45 ACP and 40 s&w. I use walnut media I get in the pet store. I like how you can take the bowl off to empty it. It doesn't take up a lot of space on my workbench. Overall a good product. I know some people have said it's noisy. But it's a tumbler full of brass shaking. How quiet can you really get it? Let's face it if the tumbler bothers you you're probably in the wrong hobby. Or put it out side.

Used mine for the first ...

Used mine for the first time tonight. Filled about half full with crushed English walnut from the pet store and tumbled 50 loaded 45-70 rounds to get the sizing lube off. Left 'em in there for about 15 minutes. Worked great. This thing is very quiet. With media but no shells in it you can hold a conversation while in the same room with it. Adding the brass makes it a bit louder but it is no hair dryer. And it doesn't shake the daylights out of itself like the one I bought from the cheap tool store and returned. Anyway, looking forward to not having to wipe lube off of rifle rounds ever again.
