I bought this about a month ago to check my beam scale and found they are both pretty much spot on with each other. When I checked it with the calibration weight it only weighed 49.956, so I took the 50g calibration weight to work and checked it on our scales in the lab and it was off by roughly the same amount, so I calibrated it to exactly 50.0000g going out 4 decimals. Brought it back home and would you believe it? The little bugger read 50.000g (it goes 3 decimals in grams) and has held that calibration since. I'm going to make some lighter & heavier calibration weights and check it with them. So far, I believe it to be "dead nuts" on the money. I think it is a great little scale. I only wish the powder pan that came with it was aluminum instead of plastic because static build up will make powder stick to it. So I use the one that came with my beam scale.

The scale seemed nice at ...

The scale seemed nice at first and does hold the .1 accuracy, but I check my powder dispenser several times before I start charging to make sure I am throwing consistent loads. I started noticing that it would begin adding a tenth of a grain if I waited long enough. After waiting for a short time, it just kept climbing until it had added three extra grains. It does this consistenly as I have tried it several times since to see if it may have been the wind, temperature, or some other factor. My advice is stay away from the scale if you are using it for powder charges. Also it has an annoying feature where it turns off automatically after a short time period, even if you are using it. It is not enough time for me to throw a charge and trickle it up to the amount I need. Not worth $40, not even worth $15

Obviously I got this for reloading and measeuring arrow weights and what not. let me tell you purchasing this scale is akin to the greatest follies of man kind! compleatly defective right out of the box. not off .2 grains I mean DOESENT WORK EVEN A LITTLE BIT.

I have been really patient with this product, but have decided against using it after the third one started giving erratic readings. I am now back on my RCBS 505 balance beam. My conclusion is that the weighing platform is VERY sensitive and will start giving problems no matter how careful you are.

Started out inconsistent ...

Started out inconsistent but changed the batteries from the junk supplied to Duracell alkalines and worked fine after that. Stays accurate to .1 grains. If it creeps up or down .1 while sitting, you are on the cusp of the charge such as 5.45 grains. Also don't breathe on it while weighing. I use the tare feature where I put my powder pan on it and set it to zero them when I fill the charge in the pan and weigh it, it shows only the powder weight. Very good tool. It stays on as long a you weigh something every 3 minutes or so, otherwise it shuts off. OK with me. When I need it again I just turn it on and we are back where we started. I don't like the plastic pan included because it has too much static and the powder tends to cling to it. I use a metal one from another scale. I have also weighed an empty cartridge case before adding powder and used the tare button to set it to zero. Then weigh it again after charging and it shows the weight of the powder charge only. Cool! I have a set of Lyman scale weights that I used to calibrate my 10-10 scale. They indicate the scale is very accurate. Any problems reported may be due to bad batteries as I experienced. I bought this 3 or 4 years ago and only now just started using it. Have weighed about 600 charges and love it. Better than the Frankford Arsenal pocket size version which is most inconvenient. Shuts off too soon and forgets what unit of measure you were using. Even if the MTM scale shuts off it remembers you are measuring in grains not ounces when you turn it on again. This MTM scale settles faster than my 10-10 balance scale.

This scale was working great before the warranty ran out. Now it will not hold calibration, and gives powder measurements that are way off what they should be. It also counts up or down without anything on the scale (in room without A/C ducts). Thought about buying another a while ago, but will now look into something different.

Order from Midway - and it came promptly - 5 stars for Midway.Used it to load 50 rounds of 45acp went back a couple of days later to load some more scale weight was all over the map - said a 185 grain bullet weighed 440, 452, 454 even though the scale calibration said it was fine.Called MTM and explained the problem - no hassle they said don't use it they would send me a replacement which they did - it seems ok 4 stars overall to MTM 5 stars for service

I have several beam type and digital scales including a fairly expensive RCBS digital. I saw this on sale at Midway so I thought it would be worth trying. The only complaint I have about my RCBS scale is that it takes a while to stabilize after turning it on. This MTM scale is rock steady as soon as I turn it on! I have a set of check weight standards and the little scale does a fine job in accuracy, too.It comes with a plastic lid to cover the sensitive weighing platform and a test weight. It's a great value for the money!
