I have purchased several Timney triggers. They are an excellent upgrade. The problem lies in the safety machanism for this particular model. It ends up with a less than positive feel. I reinstalled the original trigger.

I can only give this product a 3 star rating because unless you're very good with tools I strongly suggest that you have Timney or a gunsmith install it for you!! This is too bad because the trigger itself is very very crisp with absolutely NO CREEP!!

Once fitted it is like shooting a different rifle.Directions for installation were easy to follow but I was still not satisfied with the performance of the safety. I took advantage of the deal that Midway set up with Timney and sent the rifle to them for professional installation. It was fitted to an older R77 and needed a little special attention.Timney did an excellent job of it. The trigger and safety work flawlessly. Thanks to both Midway and Timney.

I own several rifles fitted with Timney triggers and everyone one of them perform flawlessly. This is the first Timney trigger I have installed on a Ruger 77. I followed the directions to the letter, relieved wood from the stock, set the trigger pull at 1lb 10 ounces, and reassembled the rifle. I also installed the Tubb speedlock firing pin and spring. Talk about the difference between night and day - very crisp trigger break, safety works as advertised, absolutely no problems. I plan on buying another trigger for my other 77. If I were to identify any area that needed modification on a 77, it would be the trigger. It is too bad that the rifles could not come from the factory with these triggers installed.

Trigger itself is fabulous. Five Stars at Least!! On this installation the safety ended up being mushy, it is true, but I THOROUGHLY DISAGREE with previous rater who claimed pulling trigger with safety on then moving safety to "fire" allows trigger to fall. It simply does not. He may not have hogged enough wood out of the stock - - so, GET A COMPETENT GUNSMITH TO INSTALL THIS and you are going to LOVE the trigger pull!!! I gave it points off for non-ease of installation and the mushy (not "click on/click off" operation) safety, but crisp/no creep/ "right there" pull - TERRIFIC !!!!!

Had this trigger installed on a 1976 .257 Roberts Model 77 after failing to correctly install it myself. It appears that over the years, ruger made some changes in the rifle itself which caused me the problems I was having. Updating a product is part of life. John at Timney installed it and it works flawlessly! The trigger break is crisp with no creep. I would recommend a competent gunsmith or a skilled craftsman install the trigger. No problems with it firing like what was posted by the other raters.
