I have used these in ...

I have used these in outdoor range and sporting clays environments. They are great for the clays fields. They roll off just enough noise to keep the ring out. Conversation is uninhibited. At the outdoor rifle range, they don't attenuate enough to do any good. Shotgunners, buy 'em. Rifle/handgunners, look elsewhere.

They do work if seated ...

They do work if seated far enough into your ear, they are very uncomfortable when pushed in far enough to work. The discs that seal in the ear are too stiff, and cause pain if worn for more than a few minutes.

I'm rating this products ...

I'm rating this products low because this will be a hit or miss for buyers.In my case the plug is to large and extremely uncomfortable, even painful.Perhaps my ear canals are narrower than average. If that is the case I have never noticed any problems with other earplugs although most earplugs I have used in the pass have been made out of foam.So If you know your ear canals are on the narrow side, this product might not be for you.

These ear plugs are great ...

These ear plugs are great because there is a baffle in them that will reduce the noise of gunshot, but still allow you to hear people talking that are close by. I use these when shooting sporting clays so that I can better hear others as we're walking through the course. As far as ear plugs, go these are the next best things to electronic ear muffs. The down side is that they are plastic and you have to sometimes wiggle them around a bit to get them seated in your ear properly. You do sacrifice a little comfort, as opposed to foam ear plugs, but the added ability to hear other ambient sounds around you is a big benefit.

I purchased these things ...

I purchased these things a while back. I hate the "Mickey Mouse" style hearing protection and wanted something a little more "low profile". These things are so low profile, they don't seem to filter out a blasted thing! Honestly, I've had to wear those bulky things because the radians just don't seem to work. It's a shame too.

Great in theory. My first ...

Great in theory. My first issue with these is the material that are made of. It is a stiff plastic with almost no give or flex. My second issue is their sound baffle. It does nothing to muffle sounds. I ran the shot timer for a friend and had to suffer through his whole string because I got no protection from these. When I use plugs I'll stick to foam.

At outdoor USPSA matches ...

At outdoor USPSA matches I wanted to wear ear plugs instead of muffs because of the heat. So, I wore the cheap regular ear plugs. But when scoring, it can be difficult to hear the RO calling the hits. I decided to try these outdoors and was pretty displeased. They are about the size of foam earplugs - without squishing down. Maybe I have small ears, but these were just painful to wear because of their size. In addition, they provided little or no protection from the blasts. I ended up wearing it for only a couple rounds, then switched back to regular foam earplugs. Perhaps if you have large ear canals and have a good tolerance for noise, you may find some use with these.
