The HP action kit is will give the shooter a crisp, clean trigger pull reduced to approximately 2-1/4 to 2-1/2 lbs. This kit consists of a target hammer with shims, EDM disconnector, EDM sear, target trigger with overtravel adjustment, trigger plunger with an improved radius, trigger plunger spring, a special hammer spring, a recoil buffer to reduce wear on the action and bolt as well as an extended magazine release and automatic bolt release.

I just got my kit in the mail and it was an easy install. I had read about the safety not working and mine did not work. I looked down in the trigger assembly and saw what was the problem. I took the new sear out and put the pin into the new and the old one together so they would be as close as they would be in the trigger assembly. The new one was just a little longer than the stock one, so I gently filed the length down on the end that connected with the safety, until it was the same exact length as the stock one. It then worked just fine. The auto bolt release would not work until I did this. Trigger is definitely now very acceptable. I did all this while baby sitting my 2.5 year old grand daughter, so you can see how easy this was. Whatch ya doin Granpa? Have not got to the range to actually fire it yet. Grandpa's money well spent, just wish I would have done it earlier.

Upon receipt of the parts ...

Upon receipt of the parts I immediately read the directions and was disappointed to read a warning that after installation there would be a possibility that the safety may not function properly. Sure enough, and only after completely reassembling the rifle did I discover that they were correct. The safety is very difficult to apply and sometimes can only be removed by disassembling the rifle. This makes the product relatively useless. I should have been warned about this possibility before purchasing the parts kit.

My serial number starts 116- . I was worried that the safety would not work, but it worked without modification. Installation took me about 25 minutes total time. I tested the trigger pull with a RCBS trigger gauge and it breaks consistently at 2.25 lbs. My only complaint is that there is still some creep in the pull. Hopefully this will go away some with use. I would expect a kit at this cost to have no creep whatsoever. I would prefer a slightly heavier pull if it had no creep. It would also be good to have a reset screw installed to remove some of the overtravel after sear engagement. Still overall a great kit.

Lots of take up and creep. Inconsistent break between 36 and 50oz. Safety doesn't engage properly and calling Volquartsen was no help.

After installing this kit, I had the same problem as some of the other guys. The safety would not work. I filed a small amount off the sear, checked it, still wouldn't work. Filed a little more. the sear was still longer than the original sear. Safety works, but when I take it off, the hammer fires. I called Volquartsen. They said I shouldn't have had to file anything, and had taken too much off, even though it's still longer than the original seer. Wanted me to buy a new one. The kit cost as much as the rifle, so I'm not paying for another sear that may not work. Very disappointed in Volquartsen. I won't bother them again.

I just put this in yesterday (400 rounds of use), took about an hour to install (VQs online video helped), my safety works fine, trigger feel is much better but with a bit more creep than I would like, over all I would say its %70 better than stock. I like the mag release and the auto bolt release a lot. Overall it's a great upgrade and I would do it again.

Installed this in my new 10/22 a few days ago and couldn't be happier with the results. Trigger pull is light and clean, the bolt release works great and the extended mag release lets the mags drop out freely. No problems with misfires with Wolf or CCI standard velocity ammo. My safety does not work but as I dont hunt I never use it, so I can wait to fix it till the next upgrade.

Instructions so bad they hurt. (minus one star) Otherwise, this single upgrade added pure pleasure to my shooting. The accuracy I needed to pop local varmints is now far better....I would describe trigger as "refined"...

It was a great product when it was first installed. After about 1 1/2 years of use, it began to misfire. I had to replace the hammer spring and hammer that was supplied with the kit with the original Ruger hammer and spring. The misfire disappeared for now.

Overall an ok kit, If I were doing it again, I would order the items separately. The trigger is shaped like a brick (maybe that is good and I don't know it.) Minus one star for the trigger shape and the trigger overtravel set screw scratching up my trigger guard. Minus another star for crummy directions, and directions that did not include a fix for my safety that did not work. You can get better assembly directions from the video by the manufacturer on their website. I know the safety problem is that they can't easily make one part to fit all guns, but some instructions would have been nice. The recoil buffer is a very tight fit. If I had it to do all over again, I would build the kit myself with a hammer that used the factory spring next time.
