Upper receiver comes completely stripped. Forged from 7075 aluminum that has been T6 heat treated and hard coat anodized (Mil-A-8625A). The A3 features a flattop design with an integral Picatinny-style rail and no sights with M4-style feed ramps. Does not include forward assist or dust cover.

Very nice upper with a ...

Very nice upper with a good, smooth finish and color-filled T-markings between the rails. Fit is good and tight on my Spike's Tactical lower receiver. Can't ask for much more!

Par for the course... maybe.

This is an overpriced stripped upper. The same quality I would expect for one closer to half this price.

Several blemishes in the finish, the tolerances for the openings was a complete guess - Some items fit, others had to be drilled to fit. I am upset with myself for buying this.

Ultimately it works, but the only thing this has in common with the better brands is the price. They left the attention to detail and quality out of the finishing process.

Nice Uppers To Match YHM Rails!

If you buy a YHM rail for your build I would recommend buying their upper as well so the rail machining, finish, and T-Marks will match well. No problems installing DPMS hardware to finish them. I was a bit anxious waiting for the last one I ordered to appear in my mailbox, after seeing the review that mentioned ugly lettering on the side (must have been a mis-ship), but this one was the same as the one I recieved about six months ago with no lettering.

CHEEZY TEXT ON THE SIDE...

First

GOOD: Mil-Spec, great fit/finish, this is the quality I expect/demand. Coating was uniform and adequate.

BAD: They PAINTED 5.56MM (in white) on the side opposite the ejection port. WHY? This is not going to be a toy, why make it look so cheezy? No advertizing of this fact or displayed image showing it!

If you are building a cheezy "Zombie" gun, this is for you. If you are building a solid rifle, this is for you. Personally, I do not appreciate the painted text, I don't do cheezy and now I have an excuse to refinish it.

I would recommend to a friend with the caveat of communicatin the fact there is white text painted on the side before they chose to buy.

I was somewhat surprised to find that the anodizing had multiple blemishes and scratches. This is not what I've come to expect from YHM. The upper mates well to my lower, so I just painted a layer of graphite black cerakote over the outside.

Finish does not match ...

Finish does not match well with my spikes lower. The anodizing seems thinner and the color is lighter, more of a purple hue. Fit is about what was expected, an upper and lower of two different brands never match seamlessly. Otherwise a good upper for the money.

A good bang for the buck... It fit my bushmaster nice and tight, with absolutely no slop between upper and lower and the finish wasn't spot on but did blend well.. Just get midwayusa to box it for shipping, I got mine in an envelope and it did suffer some scratches in transit...

Great upper with M4 ramps. Matches the color of my RRA lower, and fits snug. I ordered 3 of these to get the best match, and they each fit a little differently. One had a very tiny amount of "wiggle" (still tighter than my factory COLT SP6920), one was a little snug, and the third was hard to close into the lower. I picked the middle one and will sell the rest. Remember: Put the ejection port door on before the barrel.

Highly pleased with this product. Fit and finish were great. I put this on my post ban A2 Colt lower and everything matched up perfectly. I would recommend this upper receiver to anyone wanting to build or remodel an AR.

I bought the YHM-110 ...

I bought the YHM-110 upper on sale from Midway. Seemed like a good deal. The Model 1 Lightweight Contour barrel fit it well as did the other misc. parts (mostly Olympic Arms). I had an Olympic chromed bolt carrier assembly from years ago and it fit and headspaced fine (mostly a barrel issue). The only problem came in when I put it on my old Olympic Arms lower (I live in the PRC and cant buy a new lower unless I jump through all the bullet button loopholes). The upper appeared to fit the lower very well pins nice and snug, no accu-wedge needed, no hammer and punch required to disassemble, but my magazines either would not lock up in the magwell or locked up very tight and wouldnt drop freely, and I was having failures of the bolt to lock open after the last shot. Turns out the bottom cut out on the upper is about .020 shorter than the cutout on the lower and the front of the upper overhangs the front of the lower by that amount just below the M4 ramp cuts, preventing many magazines from going far enough in the magwell to lock and causing the ones that do to fit too tightly. It only took a few minutes with a couple different files to cure the problem but it doesnt seem like that should have been necessary if both the upper and the lower were mil-spec. I dont know whether it was the upper or the lower that was out of spec. but the problem was easy to cure. If you are using uppers and lowers of different manufacture I would recommend you check for this problem before you assemble your upper its easier to correct if you dont have to worry about metal filings going where they are not wanted.
