This kit is awesome!!! Really accents the looks of any gun. I love how easy it is to use. Even though it's bronze powder, not real gold, it looks pretty good to me. If you have an older gun, trace the engraving first with a toothpick or something to get out any crud then simply follow the instructions and you can't go wrong. I suggest wearing rubber gloves otherwise you could end up with gold fingers ( No pun intended).

This kit works really well on certain kinds of guns, and lettering, on blued guns. It works great on the old smith and wesson revolvers with big, deep letters. It won't work as well on small, or shallow lettering. My tips for avoiding a mess are: Wear rubber gloves. The gold powder can fill in the lines in you fingers! Don't drop it! You will not get the gold powder out of the carpet, or other areas you don't want it. I use a trash barrel, with the lid turned upside down, lined with newspaper. Q-tips work really good too! Just dip the q-tip in the glue, swipe up some gold powder, and run it across the letters, that works well on small lettering. To avoid getting gold in lettering you don't want to make bold, just coat those letters in vaseline, which will trap any gold powder that ends up in that area, and it will. You can also use masking tape and tape off areas you don't want gold, but I found that the vaseline trick works better for me. Think long and hard before you do it though, as not everyone thinks it looks good, I used it on a colt python once and decided to trade it off at a gun show, and unanamously I heard "aahh, what did you do that for!" It does clean out with a little solvent, and elbow grease, but easier to only do it where you really think it will be great. Hope this helps.

Applied carefully this will add a class appearance to any blue firearm. It's decent on stainless but shows best on blue. Add ornate wood grips or stock to really help. It is a bit tedious to work with but take your time and the result will be worth it.

Outstanding product; fast and easy to apply and looks great even in larger engravings. I filled the engraved logo word Kimber in the slide of my 1911 and it filled in very nicely even though the engraving is a bit larger than regular type. One caution; be careful with the gold dust it seems to have wings so when you open that bottle, have your gun covered so as to not have to clean off spots.I definitely recommend this one.
