The Vortex Viper Rifle Scope comes with features that are typically only included on scopes in a much higher price range. The optics are fully multi-coated and deliver beautiful detail and color while transmitting 95% of available light. Audible clicks allow for precise adjustments to windage and elevation and the tube is purged with Argon gas which eliminates internal fogging and extends the life of the optics. Was expecting more, much more

Scope seems well made. Pros are the finger adjustments with zero reset turrets. Also large knob for magnification adjustment. It's a plus but a very small one. But how hard is it to take out a coin (or even your finger nail) and adjust a scope anyway if you know it's going to hold zero. I have a Leupold VX-II 3-9x40mm and I have to say that I'm way more satisfied with the quality of that scope than this one. Why? Compared to the Leupold scope, it seems more difficult to get the proper eye relief with the Viper. Everytime I put my head down it seems that I need to have it in exactly the right spot, I also feel that I need to adjust with every shot. With the Leupold I plop my cheek down and bang perfection. The viper seems to leave a lot of field of vision leftover that's blacked out if that makes sense. Looking through the Leupold you get a hairline outline of the eyepiece. Comparing the clarity, Leupold beats it hands down at 9x vs 9x and even at 9x vs 20x. At max magnification on the Viper I can't even make out the numbers on a birchwood shoot-n-c target at 100 yds. The clarity also degrades towards the edges. Of course scopes with these powers are made for longer range shooting. I can only atest this review up to 100 yards and beyond that I can't say that the differences would be noticeable. I do dislike the field of vision as I mentioned previously. It's just not very ergonomic to my eye. It's not as much of a joy for me to shoot with the Viper as opposed to shooting with my Leupold.

I mounted this on a savage .308 and couldn't be happier. Optics are very clear even at 20X and tracking is dead on. Eye relief is good except at higher magnification where it diminishes considerably so it may not be the best option for hard recoiling rifles. Overall for the price I am very satisfied!

I have one of these on a Barrett 99, 50BMG. I have about 100 rounds on this scope and am very impressed. Clicks were precise, returned to 300 yards perfectly after going out to 1200 yards. Buying another one for my Armalite 338 today.

Great scope. Return to zero is excellent, even after shooting from 200 to 800 yards. Clicks are accurate and precise. Scope is a great value. Can't beat the price. I now own two Vortex scopes. Both are mounted on custom built howa1500's. One is a 7mm other is a 260 rem. Only issue is eye relief. I would not mount them on hard recoiling rifles. Thats why the 4 stars instead of 5.

Simply a high end scope at mid range price. Worth double its price. Excellent return to zero after shooting multiple ranges. Clear optics. Click values accurate. Have bought vx3's forever but friend told me about these and tried one on my howa 7mm tack-driver and bought a 2nd for my howa .308. Will buy another for my 6.5x55 when rifle is finished.

Excellent scope! Mounted it on a Howa 7mm rem mag tack driver. Accurate clicks and superbly returns to zero. Pull-up turrets are a great feature to index zero. Zeroed at 200, 300, 400, 500 & 600 yards, dialed back to 200 yard mark & shot right on. Excellent scope for the money.
