The Caldwell Lead Sled Plus is the next-generation of Lead Sled. Like the original, the Caldwell Lead Sled Plus reduces recoil by up to 95% while securely holding your gun on target.

Key improvements over the original Caldwell Lead Sled include a newly-designed precision elevation shaft that eliminates wobble and play in front elevation keeping you perfectly on target and a new Universal Weight Tray. The unique new tray adjusts to accommodate a variety of weight types, including 25 pound bar bell weights, sand or lead shot bags.

Bought Lead Sled Plus to sight in my Ruger M77 Hawkeye in 375 Ruger. This product really works well - Makes a 375 Ruger with factory 270 grain loads feel like a .22 LR off the bench and only using three 25 lbs bags of number 8 shot - 75 lbs of weight really anchored the recoil way down. The way adjust weight tray is configured I don't see how four bags of shot would fit it properly. Though I see now that a 100 lbs of lead shot maybe over kill. In the same outing I shot my Puma SS 92 in the 454 Casull pushing 260 grain bullets at 1900 FPS on the Lead Sled and the same results. The Lead Sled Plus is a great tool to help one honestly sight-in a big bore/big cased rifles without the beating one usual gets with these types of rifle. Plus it is a great tool to stop the flinching that comes with these types of rifles. Buy one and you'll ask yourself I should have bought one of these a long time ago.

I found this sled very hard to keep anywhere on target. I weighed the sled down with 60 lbs and it would not stop moving violently in reaction to the recoil of a .338 Lapua Magnum. It would be helpful if somekind of shooting table clamping clamping option was made for the sled so it just cannot move out of position. In addition I would expect at a minimum the tubular frame to have a front to back sizing adjustment of about 15".

Bought this for sighting in and developing loads for several military rifles. Wobbled at first until I tightened the allenhead bolts TIGHT. I use 40# of steel wheel-weights in homemade canvas bag which work great. Since most of the rifles have steel butt-plates, I installed a rubber recoil pad to the rear (Prevents cracked stocks) and added a "Y" to the front rest. It's turned every rifle into a pussycat with little to no felt recoil. It did have a bit of barrel jump but a velcro strap fix that. Overall, it is great, wish I had it 40 years ago (and so does my shoulder). The only drawback is it's righthand only, my wifes a lefty. As an added note, I use a ratchet strap on my portable bench instead of the bagged weights, the table moves before the rest will.

I like it but would have been better for AR15 type rifles if it was a little taller to accept the long magazines they use. But is good quality and easy to assemble.

Never thought much of mechanical rests but I had never tried one either. My shooting club bought 2 different ones with the Caldwell Lead Sled being one of them. Tried it out the other day on a Ruger 77 in 300 Win mag that I had in my safe for 15 years w/o shooting. The older I get the more recoil sensitive I get so I was skittish about shooting this gun to say the least. Even without 50#'s of lead as all we had was shot bags filled with sand, the Lead Sled tamed the 300 Winny. I had a big ole grin on my face as the first shot went off with a newly mtd Leupold scope and the bullet hole was touching a 3" bullseye at 50 yds. I still flinched and the gun bucks but almost no energy gets transferred to the shoulder. I shot 8 more rounds of the 300 winmag at 100yds and got sighted in without the first hint of pain in my shoulder. Had a buddy touch off one shot to see how the Lead Sled and my rifle worked. His shot was a bullseye at 100yds and he was grinning too. This thing works and I can't wait to try it with 50#s of lead on it. One star off as the front support was a little wobbly even locked down with the set screw.

So I purchased the sled a week ago and set out for the range the following weekend. The sled needed some assembly, but all parts were included and no trouble with assembly. The durability was definitely tested when I placed my Remington model 673, 350 Rem Mag in the cradle. I could only shoot about 8 rounds through the gun without any support. When I used the sled I shot almost 30 rounds without a hitch. I only had 25 lbs. of weight and will have to get more, definitely. The recoil was greatly reduced but with insufficient weight on the sled the gun did move the sled back. Over all an awesome purchase and a definite need for large caliber rifles.

This product is an absolute must for sighting in your rifle. If you do not have weight to use I've found it works even better using a ratchet strap. Just tie it down onto a bench and you have rock solid zero movement. You can put an egg in between your shoulder and not break it even with a 12 gauge 3" slug.

This thing is fantastic. I'm using it to evaluate hold sensitivity on my RWS spring air pellet rifles and it's providing me with plenty of understanding. Can't wait to use it on my Remington .280 Mountain rifle. It's rock solid, well made, buy it you'll be satisfied.MidwayUSA service is great and it was cheaper than the competitor.
