Product Information

SUPERFORMANCE ammunition is loaded with proprietary propellants that increase the velocity ratings up to 200 feet per second compared to other popular brands. Because there is no increase in pressure, regardless of the caliber, there is no increase in felt recoil but there IS an increase in efficiency and high speed performance. From sub-zero arctic temperatures to almost unbearable desert heat, SUPERFORMANCE ammunition can withstand any hunting habitat.

Loaded with Hornady's InterLock Super Shock Tip (SST) bullet, this round combines proven Hornady performance with a higher ballistic coefficient than available with most hunting bullets. The sharp, pointed polymer tip creates a faster, flatter shooting bullet. With its one-piece core and jacket strengthened in critical areas, the SST delivers much more controlled expansion and superior weight retention than other tipped bullets. Featuring Hornady's trade mark InterLock ring system, this bullet's core and jacket remain locked solid during expansion, creating massive wound channels.

I bought my wife a Browning 7mm08 A bolt for deer hunting. After sighting in, 5 shots stayed within a dime size area! Naturally on opening day, my wife did not hunt so I took her rifle with me. I shot two does, the first one was 283yds, the other was 294yds, both deer dropped in their tracks!! The next day my wife came hunting and shot a doe at 150yds, and a buck at 340yds. Both also dropped in their tracks! The 139 grain SST Superformance is knocking holes every bit as big as my .300 Win Mag! We are very pleased with your product and will continue to use this Ammo.

Bought 2 boxes for use with my R-25. After 5 rounds I had 3 perforated primers. I tried the second box and it was better but still busting a few primers. Primer issue is non-existant in other manufacturers. Grouping was 2.5 MOA. I do not recommend this for AR platform. Maybe better off in a bolt action gun with this ammo. I broke down the remainder of the ammo and used the cases for reloading. Brass is nice...

I bought a box of these to compare with handloads I was working up. They came out very consistent with the chronometer at about 2925 FPS +- 10 on a hot humid day at about 1800 ft elevation. The gun was a Cooper M54 Excalibur with a Swarovsky 3-10 fine reticle scope, shooting from bench and bags at a 100 yard target. The best 3 shot group I could get was 1.5 inches, with shots placed 5 minutes apart. As you can guess the Cooper factory targets shows one cloverleaf hole. Alongside this gun I was shooting a Winchester M70 Coyote rifle in 243, with a Zeiss Conquest 4.5-14 scope. The handloads were pushing a 58 grain Hornady V-Max bullet and it was grouping a pretty consistent .3 to .6 inch 3 shot groups with shots placed about 1 minute apart. So I'm pretty confident My Cooper hates this ammunition and seeing so many other users are having such poor results makes me think Hornady has a little more work to do with this particular product.

In my 9 twist heavy barrel Remington this is the worst factory ammo I've ever shot! 16 rounds at 100 yards covered a 4 1/2 x 6" pattern. I disassembled the last four and reloaded them using 47gr of H4350, a mid-range load and the "group" decreased to 3". Glad I just wanted this for the brass. My thinking is this ammo may do better in a slower twist barrel but have no field test to back that up.

Works great in my 24" Rem M700 CDL. ~1MOA and 1-shot kill this past fall at ~100yd on a 140# whitetail. First deer I've shot that didn't take a step after being hit. The fact that it does not shoot well in some rifles does not make it bad ammo. Horses for courses....... Try it and see.

Used this to sight in my new X Bolt Stalker in 7mm-08. This ammo was all over the place so bad I thought there was an issue with scope. Bought a box of CoreLokts and got a 1" group at 100yrds. I put the remaining rounds on my scale and they had as much as 8gr in difference between them. Not the results I expected from Hornady.

I have shot hornady 223 ...

I have shot hornady 223 and 444 ammo with good results for several years. I recently purchesd a Marlin x7 7mm-08 and a box of Rem. accutips 140 g. They shot a 2 inch group at 100 yards.Not good enough, so i bought 2 boxes of sst's. I was shocked to find they shot a (10inch) 5 shot group. Yes 10 inches. I pulled the bullets out of 6 catridges, their weights were consistent, the powder was consistent and oal was too.So it is either bad primers or my gun just doesn't like these bullets. I'm now getting very tiny groups with 120 g sierra pro-hunters over Win 760. I like hornady and will continue to use there ammo but if you have a marlin x7 try somthing else!

Bullet did not group well at all in my X-Bolt. Two inches at 100 yards doesn't cut it for me. The SST is a great bullet, don't care for the Superformance Ammo though.

Good ammo with excellent terminal performance. I have taken 5 deer with this ammo and they dropped in their tracks. Shooting out of M700. It replaced my previous favorite ammo because of how it grouped at the range and the velocity boost is an added bonus.

I'll preface this with... I know all guns shoot various ammo differently...but...New Browning BLR, 20" barrel. Shoots both Remington 120 grain and 140 grain at 1 MOA. This Hornady ammo, to my disappointment, shoots 8, yes EIGHT, MOA. Wow.
