The Advanced Combat Optical Gunsights (ACOGs) are internally adjustable, compact telescopic sights with tritium illuminated reticle patterns for use in low light or at night. Bindon Aiming Concept (BAC) models feature bright daytime reticles using fiber optics, which collect ambient light. The ACOGs combine traditional, precise distance marksmanship with close-in aiming speed. This optic utilizes the Binden Aiming Concept (BAC), which capitalizes on the brain's natural tendency to select a single primary optical input when given a choice between two images, one unique image from each eyes perspective, that are not equal with respect to clarity and/or brightness, magnification, etc. This is different than optics like EOTech and other similar non-magnified red-dot sights where the image from both eyes registers and you see a single wide panoramic view with the reticle superimposed in that view.To use the BAC, both eyes are open all the time. If right handed and have your rifle shouldered at an at ready position, you look through the optic with your right eye while your left eye is scanning your environment. The images your brain has to choose from are a blurred image through the optic of your right eye (caused by the constant motion as it is tracking your head movements while you are scanning the area), and the normal view of your left eye as it is unobstructed and gets clear focused images of your surroundings. From out of nowhere, up jumps a zombie at 50 Meters which is first detected by your left scanning eye. Your body shifts into position to engage and in doing so your right eye through the optic comes into alignment with the zombie. In literally fractions of a second, your brain switches from the image in your left eye to the now magnified, brilliant image of your right eye looking through the ACOG. The chevron reticle seems to automatically gravitate to the center of mass and the zombie is dispatched. Having completed the engagement successfully, you resume your scanning and movement through the area. Your right eye looking through the optic now registers a blurred image as a result of your motion and the image from your left eye, now registering the best picture, once again becomes your brains primary optical input.All zombie jokes aside, it is a very effective system and downright freaky how well it works.
