The Lee Ram Prime Priming Unit allows the reloader to prime on the up-stroke for a more sensitive feel and increased leverage. Included are easy to change punches for both large and small primers. Fits all brands of single stage presses. This is the same tool that is supplied with the Lee Challenger and Hand Press Kit.

I had problem inserting small rifle primers on this rig. I used to put the primer while the priming cup was below the top of the press. I have large hands & fingers and the clearance from the priming cup to the top of the press is tight for my digits. I dropped a lot of primers before finally figured out how to use this tool properly. The trick is to insert the primer when the priming cup is thru the shellholder. Move the ram to its maximum up position until the priming cup appears on top of the shell holder. Load a primer into the cup, then lower the ram just enough to insert a case. Insert a case into the shell holder, prime it then remove. Repeat the procedure. I haven't dropped a primer since. This tool is great. Just learn to use it properly!

I love this tool. I have two, one for small primer and one for large so I dont have to change stems. Obviously loading one primer at a time doesnt offer the speed of priming with tray feed by hand or on press but you cant beat the feel of this tool. Used on a hand press, this offers the best feel for seating the primer of any tool Ive ever used. Seated just below flush every time once you get the hang of it which doesnt take long. I can even tell what headstamp brass I am priming just by feel. With smaller hands and fingers, I can set the primer in the cup easy and quick. I use this with a lee hand press to do my priming. Only issue I have had is after the tool has gotten some use the stem loosened up in the holder. This causes some play which sometimes would lead to the spring loaded primer cup hitting the shell holder and flipping the primer over or sideways causing the seating of an upside down primer or potentially crushed primer. Or, the primer would just fall out of the cup. The remedy was to rework my technique so that I insert the primer at the top of the ram stroke when the primer cup is above the shell holder. Then, lower just enough to slide a case into the shellholder. No more issues and it's actually faster without the full ram stroke. That said, a better retaining system for the stem and a better centering system would make this foolproof, but also more expensive. Very few products are perfect and I would bump 1/2 star if I could. I cant so it gets 5.

It seems to do what it's supposed to do. It does both small and large primers. It seems to reduce work space clutter because it doesn't have a primer try attached. You just use the standard die set shell holder. This may save you money from purchasing specific space consuming accessories. I feel it is most useful for an occasional reloader but not an enthusiast. I find it seems to take longer to prime a shell casing than with a hand held press with a tray. I find it much easier to fumble the small primers when attempting to load the press ram of this design. I'm glad to own one for those once in a while loadings because I can just use the die set shell holder.

This is a "one at a time" tool and speed is not its strength accuracy and consistency are. High primers are a thing of the past since any change in the resistance of the primer seating is quickly felt so one can remove that case and find out why.

Love it! Better than any other priming solution I have tried including the Lee Auto Prime, only slower. The feel of seating the primer is unequalled, I use it in my Lee Hand Press. This is the cat's meow of priming tools!

Love the "feeling" that this priming unit gives. It does well with all the primers I have, as of now, used. I use it as my sole method of priming on a single stage.Mine was missing the large primer guide cup when shipped, but I called Lee Precision up and they were quick to right the situation.Can't beat it!

Installed roughly 3000+ primers before the rod no longer snugly fits into the holder without throwing primers across my kitchen. But for the price, I'm pretty impressed and I love how you can feel when the primer sets.

I like the concept behind the Ram Prime unit, but it isn't what it could be. There needs to be some way to secure the primer ramming piece, the primer cup and spring to the body of the unit. I found that I had to be really careful when using it or the spring would cause the three smallest pieces go flying. I almost lost them a couple of times. My suggestion is to order 2 of them and super glue one with the large primer attachment and the other with the small primer attachment.

I bought this priming unit over 3 months ago and have primed over 300 cases without a problem. I clean the pockets with an RCBS primer pocket brush then polish the pocket by placing a cleaning patch over the brush and giving a few more turns. The additional residue you remove is astounding. Remember...Your press fitting the primer, the cleaner the pocket, the smoother it will go in and a cleaner burn rate youll get.

The unit worked with my Lyman press flawlessly. It gives a good feel for the primer seating. I bought two for the price at the time and leave one set for small primers and the other for large ones, though switching the adapters out if you only get one is easy, pull one adapter out push in the other.
