Product Information

Hammer forged over a precision mandrel within .0001" with bore tolerances held within .0002", this barrel is a surefire way to upgrade or replace your old or worn out barrel. This barrel is manufactured from 4140 steel, heat treated to 44Rc and features a bore with a surface finish of 16 microns or better. This barrel also features a National Match ramp. This is a semi drop-in barrel, however due to the diverse selection and variations in slides and frames, minor fitting may be required. Outside diameter measures .579" with a tolerance held at .001".

Barrel length is 5.62" followed by a 0.62" threaded portion
Threads are 0.575"x40
The compensator is secured to the barrel with high strength/high temperature Loctite 680
Includes barrel bushing
For use with 1911 Government models in 45 ACP

I odered this comp recently for a friend. This one arrived with a slightly different design from the Swenson I ordered over a year ago. This new one really sucks up the recoil!! He was shooting at 850 FPS 180 grain reload and needed to go to a 10# recoil spring to assure proper cycling. This item doesn't have the looks of a $300 comp, but it has the performance. Minor fitting was required to the links on both comps. Nothing major.

Barrel and compensator ...

Barrel and compensator are a bit mismatched. First thing with feed problem understandable, solved by porting throat. Secondly had heck of a time trying to bring target strike back onto Right side of paper at 15 yards. Got as far as a dozen rounds and noted the compensator was spinning off. Cleaned up thread sealant and found exceptional loose thread cut allowing nearly half a turn past center. Aligned and lock-tighted as close as best could, even placed a better barrel bushing but not so good. Nearly have to set rear sight to fall off left side and still cannot center at 15 yards. This one should have been scrapped.

OK just got done fitting this barrel into my gold cup "80 s" pistol. It took almost 10 hours to make it fit perfect most of the work done with a dremel tool and lots of grinding,sanding,cutoff and polishing tools. I used a number 3 wilson link that was perfect for lock up and gives clearance so barrel doesn't touch slide. I am a retired mechanic with many years on the job under my belt and, in a scale of 1 to 10 and 10 being highest skill level, I rate this job a 2 on skill level for me. I think most people that dissemble and polish guns with little or no trouble will enjoy this job. Just take your time don't rush enjoy the time working with things you like i had a good time. I tested the pistol using 165 grain cor bon ammo with a 22 lbs spring feeds and fires real nice with recoil that of my 22 buckmark although much louder. I feel like was worth the time and the thing looks custom every one at the range came by and asked about where I got the job done. Was kinda head swelling to tell them did the job myself using parts from Midway.

Just purchased to play with, for the price why not. I installed on my Springfield. I could not get the slide stop pin in. I had to dremel the lugs down. They had a rough burr on them. The barrel bushing fit loose in my slide. I installed a tighter fitting bushing. I also had to go from a 16 pound slide spring to an 11 pound spring. I had to move my Ultra Dot 41 clicks to the left. After all this, I'm extremely pleased with it's accuracy. Still tweaking reloads to get 100% function. It does say semi drop-in. I'm pleased.

Bought for my ss colt m4 ...

Bought for my ss colt m4 series 80. Looks totally sick. Took some effort to get it in. Area around the link pin (does not come with barrel) needed some dremel work so took about an hour or so. Then had issue feeding so had to file down the sharp edge on the chamber slightly and works great. Just got back from the range and accuracy similar to my stock barrel. Compensator seemed to do a good job of keeping the muzzle down. Happy with the buy but you may need some skills in putting this in so will give 4 stars. Would be good if they had a ss version but have black grips and trigger so the completed look is cool. Totally wicked.

This barrel is not to the standard that I was expecting, the barrel bushing is very loose and it should fit, is horrible. I'm going to call midway for a replacement because this is nowhere near satisfactory.

Purchased this just to test and mess around with. The barrel dropped right in and fit snug around the lugs. The bushing to barrel fit is snug. The bushing to slide fit could be tighter. Once everything is installed the lock-up is tight. The accuracy was equal to or better than the existing barrel ( made for Iver Johnson ) The finish on the compensator was rough only on the two sides. To make the part look the way it performs, I sanded the sides and re-blued ( cold blue ) The part looks nice, shoots well and dropped right in.

OK Im from Indiana and I must say this dropped right in perfectly. Had to transfer the link no problem locked in using an old technique but in over all its not as shiny and fancy as other compensators but works perfectly no problems ordering more soon.

The barrel fit my Kimber custom 2 well, It did need a link pin and link since they were not included. Only a small difference with regular 230grain 45 ammo, more compensation was felt with +P ammo. I like it enough to leave it on my Kimber.

The barrel dropped in and fitted up easily after installing the link but I haven't had the pistol to the range yet, so I haven't been able to shoot it and see how well it works. It is an easy installation and it doesn't add but a few ounces to the weight of the weapon so it doesn't change the handling.
