I like this one and it ...

I like this one and it made a difference in feel when it hits the snap cap. I test fired it last night after 80 rnds of 124 grs. it started misfiring and it never got better for the next 120 rounds. My pistol was a 38 super springfield older generation. I never had a misfire on my 45acp w/ titanium pin on it and for some reason this would not work on this springfield gun consistently. I better switch to the reg. steel pin and forget about that this happened to my pistol for the first time.....It's a neat part if it works for you....

Replaced steel firing pin ...

Replaced steel firing pin in Kimber. Springfield titanium spring is lighter and thinner than stock steel pin and does not fit in Kimber firing pin channel as snugly. Works well; no misfires, but strikes on primer are not necessarily centered and indentations are lighter than with stock steel pin. Am returning to using the stock steel pin since it fits better in the firing pin channel.

OK the thing is many ...

OK the thing is many people consider titanium firing pins a needed safety upgrade (along with extra-power firing-pin springs which are ALWAYS a good call steel or titanium) They have faster lock time (they move faster because they are lighter) However steel pins have more mass for more consistent and deeper primer strikes. In a properly made gun with good in spec springs and parts either should work 100%...If something goes wrong steel has a "will probably go bang anyway" advantage If the gun drops 8 feet onto a tile floor on the muzzle (yikes) titanium has a better chance of not going off. Titanium is stronger BUT can also be more brittle and sometimes reacts with some chemicals to corrode or become more brittle over time. Usually this will not happen in this application though. Steel...well it's steel...keep it oiled and it's fine...neglect it bad for years and heck. I've RARELY seen either fail. I've seen more light strikes and failures to fire with titanium for the same reason it's safer. It's a call only you can make. In a gun with no firing-pin safety some call it a "must have". There's always a trade-off. Keep in mind Springfield for some stupid reason uses .38 super/9mm pins in some of their 1911's (many milspec and GI's) it allows for still LIGHTER pins because they are turned down smaller...so take yours out and if it looks more like this pic than a standard pin you will need a .38 super firing pin for your .45 if you have a regular 1911 .45 pin order the right pin...at any fraction of an ounce isn't going to change your lock-time enough over the regular pin...It is as much as you can safely do in that department in my opinion. Personally I use Ed Brown or Wilson bullet-proof firing pins. DO get a wolf or Wilson extra power spring and change it every 2K rounds with your recoil spring...cheap insurance no matter what material your pin is made from.
