The Caldwell XLA Bipods provide a stable shooting support that conveniently attaches to almost any firearm with a sling swivel stud. The lightweight aluminum design adds minimal weight and deploys quickly, with legs that instantly spring out to the shooting position with the touch of a button.

The legs are notched for easy indexing to a specific height. There is a connection point for sling attachment and multi section legs that collapses forward allowing for convenient carry of the firearm. Soft rubber feet provide enhanced stability, while the padded bipod base protects the firearm's forend.

Note: Pivoting Models - In the real world of hunting, the chances of the ideal shot opportunity occurring while on a level ground are slim-to-none. A pivoting bipod will allow the shooter to compensate for ground that is unlevel by up to 20°. The lower portion of the bipod pivots independently from the upper stock mount, allowing the firearm to be quickly leveled on uneven ground. The tension knob can be adjusted to control the resistance of the pivoting motion.

Not sure why this product has gotten such bad reviews. I have found this bipod to be very well made. And, while it does not have spring assisted closing of the legs like a Harris, it does close quite easily. Spring assist open is quite nice too. I have it mounted on a Stevens 7mm-08 with a big Millet TSR-1 scope and it stabilizes the whole rig quite well. The only reason that I did not give it 5 stars is the small cosmetic blemish on the bipod. There was a small scratch on it, but it in no way hurts the performance of the product.

This is my second Caldwell bipod. Both of them have been excellent. Not sure why the reviews are so poor but it does exactly what it is supposed to do. Both the Caldwells have held up fine on my Remington 700 .308 and have attached tightly and problem free to my AICS stock. I sold the first one to my friend who put it on his Savage 10 .223, it is tight on there and he loves it.

Not sure why the low reviews, because my 2nd Caldwell bipod has been just as excellent as the first. Perhaps I don't have a Harris to compare it to, but anyhow. I mounted this on an AICS 1.5 no problem. The bolt locked down and after over 40rds of .308 didn't loosen up at all. My only compliant would be that one of the leg springs is loose so the it doesn't fling out all the way when it hits the release button, but it works and does what it does well.

If you bought this and couldn't get it to tighten up, then you are not alone. But if you use a little enginunity, and a small file to open the slot where the clamping pins go through, just a little, it tightens up just fine. I have 2 Remmington 700 SPS, one in 308 and one in 223 and have this mount on both of the rifles. It works just fine, Harris is ok, if you want to spend the money and you are not mechanically inclined. The money I saved on 2 of these, I was able to buy a buch of bullets for reloading....[Mechanically Inclined]

I bought one of these thinking it would be a cheaper alternative to the Harris bipod (of which I have two and am very happy with). Imagine my surprise when I couldn't get the thing to tighten onto my stock. The back sides of the pins that go into the swivel stud are so big that it prevents the bipod from tightening up. Looks like I'm going to have to get out the file to get it to work, though frankly I'm afraid it may weaken the springs. I will definitely spend the money for a Harris bipod from now on!

Just purchased a second one of these bipods. For the price this is a good bipod and I have not had any issues on a 10/22 and an XLS 30-06. Has improved stability on both rifles from the bench. For the pricepoint this is a great buy!

I am hard on my equipment and this bipod has held up to my expectations. I think they have made changes in the design, because my bipod looks different than the one shown in the picture. Mine looks very similar to my Harris (and performs just as well). You could pay twice as much, but why?

Definitely not a Harris! Lower quality, loose fitting, no spring assist on notched legs like the Harris, and just weaker overall. Spend a few more dollars and get the real Harris.
