I use this bullet specifically for elk. A large bull in Utah can weigh from 850 to 950 lbs. I shoot it out of a Ruger M77 Mark II in .300 Win Mag, which has been barrel-lapped (David Tubb's "Final Finish"), and has a Rifle Basix trigger job. I was consistently able to shoot these bullets at 100 yards in 5/8" 3-shot groups, which I shot high to compensate for a 297 yard zero. In November of 2011, I took a large 6X6 elk at 324 (laser-ranged) yards, shooting uphill at an incline of 40+ degree. I held one inch high and the shot hit precisely where anticipated, taking out both lungs, and the animal's aorta, which made for an almost instaneous kill. According to my calculations, the bullet hit the elk at 2325.9 fps, with 2402.1 ft lbls of energy. Upon examination, the trauma channel was devastating. The entry and exit hole were not overly large, and I found the bullet just underneath the hide on the opposite side from the hit. The bullet was intact, and had text-book mushrooming. The jacket was well split with the lead core exposed, but there was no indication of separation. In essence, the perfect result. Simply stated, there is no reason for people who are primarily interested in an effective hunting round to consider anything else, including all of those high-priced "premium" bullets. By the way, my son also took a large 5X6 elk with his 30-06 shooting a Sierra 180 gn. SBT during the same hunt. Sierra is simply the best there is.

I loaded these for a cousin who also shoots a .300 Win Mag. Using Reloader 22, CCI250 Primers, and Winchester brass. He went out for elk and shot the lead cow he said he has never seen a elk drop so fast even with the 180gr Accubond I also loaded for him. He wants more these bullets and wants to send me back the 180gr Accubond and reload them with the 200gr Sierra Gameking he calls them the go big or go home bullets! Try them you will be wanting more just as my cousin does!

I'll have to agree with almost every review here; These are the absolute best long range hunting bullets available in 30 caliber. I hunt with a Thompson pro hunter 300 win mag and this bullet is an absolute perfect match for it! I can shoot 1/2MOA at 200 yds. all day long! I've shot one deer at 200yrds and it dropped immediately. You would have thought I shot it with a rocket launcher if you saw the exit hole directly underneath the skin (at least a fist size hole). The exit hole in the hide was about 3" big.. This bullet is unbelievable! I don't believe there is a better hunting bullet in any caliber than this one!

Shot my first deer with ...

Shot my first deer with this bullet and it worked like a charm. The entrance hole wasn't much larger than the bullet, but the exit hole was simply amazing. At 180yrds the deer ran about 5 feet and game over! Wasn't that impressive of a shot either... I'm easily able to get 1" groups at 200yrds and given this is my hunting round, I'm VERY happy! I pair with H1000 out of a Thompson Pro Hunter at 2,950 fps.

Got sub-moa groups at 100 yards in my .300 Win Mag using RL-22. I can't wait to use them on Elk this fall in Wyoming. Get these bullets and you wont disappointed. Another great product from Sierra.

Used this bullet in my suppressed POF .308 loaded to subsonic velocity using Trail Boss powder. During accuracy testing it fairs almost as well as the Lapua Subsonic Bullets. Tracks straight with no "keyholing" and grouped ten rounds in a half dollar sized grouping at 125 yrds. Still need to use in the field to determine if the bullet will expand properly (or at all) at subsonic velocity and see if there is an advantage over the FMJ Lapua Subsonic bullet. Although I have yet to encounter a target that was downed with a single shot with a subsonic FMJ, as with any round I like to have a little insurance.

This is a great, accurate, hunting bullet. There's one problem to watch for. If your recoil is significant, the lead tips of the rounds in the magazine will deform when you fire the first round. I don't know for sure how it affects accuracy, but I'm switching to non-soft tip bullets, just in case. The problem might be unique to very light rifles that have more recoil. I still got better than 1 MOA with deformed tips, in a very light custom Remington 700.

I use this bullet in my 30-06 for elk hunting. I shot my last elk twice behind the shoulder, one bullet provided a large exit wound and the other bullet separated the jacket and core. I found the jacket and core against the hide on the far side so still got excellent penetration. Accuracy is phenomenal. Five shot groups are always sub-MOA.

I shoot this bullet at subsonic velocities in my 300 Whisper. At 100 yards, with the 9.6 grains of H110, it produces the same velocities, the same POI and the same sub-MOA accuracy as the 240 grain Matchking, at 2/3rds the price.
