For me, these are the best buffers in my 1911's. What makes them so great is they are the softest I've used. Being soft means they provide the best impact dampening. I don't mind replacing the buffer every few thousand rounds because they are very inexpensive.(lasts much longer then the rated 1000 average since I run lighter reloads) Some people may say they are not necessary but I'm all for recoil buffers. In fact every firearm I own that a buffer is available for I have.

Too soft and too big. ...

Too soft and too big. Used 3 in three diff. guns with diff. loads and spring weights. all 3 squashed and jammed the slides fairly quick.

I installed this in my ...

I installed this in my Springfield Govt. Model 1911. It does prevent metal to metal contact and slightly reduce the harshness of slide impact, but there is little to no difference in felt recoil. Nonetheless I will keep it installed. It has not caused any reliability problems of any kind. In the future I would probably buy the Wilson Combat model instead. FYI, if it's not obvious how to install this, you do the following: remove slide from frame, pull recoil spring and guide rod from slide, pull the spring off the guide rod, insert the buffer on the guide rod where the spring was, and then reinstall the spring on top of it. It only takes 30 seconds and is very clean once installed; it could pass for an original factory part.

This buffer is the ...

This buffer is the softest 1911 buffer I have found, meaning it has the best cushioning effect. It also means it will wear out faster than other harder buffers, so it should be inspected for damage when you clean your gun. It is the only buffer I use after trying several others. These will also fit CZ-75 models and clones. Overall, it is an excellent buffer that does exactly what it is supposed to do.
