I reiterate this is a good buy! It has a matte sand blasted look. No ugly tooling marks or any other kind of cosmetic defects. It slipped into my SA 1911A1 Mil-Spec with no modifications, and it works. This was one of if not the most painless customizations to my gun.

It's a good hammer...it does need some file work and stoning to get a decent break but then most do...if you want a drop in trigger get the Wilson value-line hammer and sear....this one is a little too long/deep to play well with a Wilson high-ride grip safety...so if you use that grip safety be aware of that...there may be others it has clearance issues with...for the money and stainless it looked like a good buy...in the end I should have just stuck with a Wilson Combat since I use their jig and safeties. Would look perfect on a commander with a beavertail type safety though!

Looks good when polished

I purchased this Swenson stainless hammer to replace the stock hammer on my Rock Island 1911. It was a brushed stainless and I polished it to a shiny stainless, looked really good. The only problem I had with the hammer was when I installed it, it hit the top of my grip safety before it would lock in the fire position. I did have to grind the top of the grip safety to allow the hammer to set.
No problem and it made the cheap 1911 look much more pricey. Especially with the drop in aluminum trigger from Videki. Would buy again.

Great hammer, it gets the job done....True drop in part for my Springfield mil spec 1911a1 .45acp..I added a beavertail so I needed a new hammer......Used a .020 thousandths shim and filed down the teeth where the sear engages......Lightened my trigger pull big time and I used the stock sear with it.....Over all good product.

Very bad casting. Fit was terrible. Installed it just to see how much work is needed. Hammer pin hole was off so it caused the hammer to lean to the left. Upon further inspection the hammer pin hole is oval in shape. Maybe I got a defect??

Polished the sides for a few minutes with some mothers, other than that it was a drop in fit for my Springfield Mil-Spec. Quite a nice match to the finish on the gun as well (stainless). Shiny on the sides and a matte finish up the middle.

Looks alright and it'll be a nice hammer once I get it to work. It needed a lot of fitting just to get into my Colt Combat Commander and then some more for it to function smoothly.

This is a hidden jewel. It looks great, and works perfectly. Spent about 20 minutes polishing to a shine to match my gun finish. Function was good right off the bat. Great function required a little bit of shortening of the engagement surface and a polish job. No more work than what was required of the 65.00 Wilson hammer I put in another of my pistols though. You can't go wrong with this hammer. Jump on it.
