Comments about Leupold 1-Piece Standard Scope Base Mauser FN Gloss:

This one-piece base is a well-made and well-finished product, but it does not fit the J.C. Higgins Model 50 (583.92 stamped on the barrel) with .860 hole spacing front and rear. The front of the base looks like it will line up perfectly with the holes in the receiver, but the hole in the rear of the base does not line up with either of the holes for the original rear base. As you're looking at the rifle from the butt end, the distance on the receiver between the rearmost hole and the one in front of the loading/ejection port is 3.87 inches, while the same measurement on this base is 4.3 inches. This is fine if you are already going to drill, but do not expect this to fit on the Higgins Model 50 with .860 rear hole spacing. Hope this helps.
