DuraCoat's unique combination of chemical and water resistance, adhesion and abrasion resistance, hardness and impact resistance are legendary. Available in a complete list of colors to create your favorite camouflage finish. Finish can be applied to ferrous metals, alloys, synthetics, woods and more. No preheating or baking required unless desired. DuraCoat eliminates the problems typically found with many other heat cure finishes: Preheating and handling of hot parts, high curing temperatures, "orange-peel" and other inconsistencies caused by surface cooling or solvent evaporation during curing. Can be used to create special effects like texturing and shadowing. The dry film thickness can be varied from .25 to 1.5 ml. Additives such as prisms and flakes can also be used. DuraCoat needs to be applied with an airbrush, conventional automotive spray gun, High Volume Low Pressure (HVLP) system, or a Preval sprayer.

Notes:

Before DuraCoat is applied, firearm should be disassembled and cleaned thoroughly with a high quality degreaser.

DuraCoat can be applied on bare metals, plastics, synthetics, and wood.

DuraCoat has to be applied with an airbrush, conventional automotive spray gun, or an HVLP system.

Finish will be resistant to most lubricants, cutting oils, and bore solvents.

Finish can either air or oven dry.

The product is very easy to apply and comes with good instructions. I used a Sata minijet HVLP spray gun with a 0.8 mm nozzle. The finish is awesome. I bought the reducer as well, but did not need any the viscosity is like water. Equipment can be cleaned with acetone, but be careful not to get into contact with your sprayed parts, will strip off the uncured Duracoat immediately. The preparation has to be perfect. The covering power is good but due to the low viscosity it does not fill up imperfections like a lacquer. So keep that in mind, when you prep a stock. You should have got some syringes - at least 2- handy to mix up the batches. With my setup the consumption is twice as much as advertised, maybe you have less overspray with an airbrush. Time will tell how the durability is.

I love this stuff. I have a Marlin .450, professionally done, in matte black. Gun was blasted, parkerized and Duracoated. It has stood up to several seasons of bear and deer hunting. The Lauer matte clear coat is the only part of the coating that shows any wear. Tree limb rubs and whatnot. Have a CZ52 pistol that I Duracoated also. Did not blast or parker pistol. After about 10 years of packing in a tactical thigh holster, cheap cordura one, it is starting to show some wear on the corners. A couple of them are starting to shine. This stuff holds up pretty good even with a garage paint job. Get a professional, Lauer certified, full meal deal finish and it should last for as long as you do. Do it yourself in the garage and you will get years of wear from this stuff. Removing all the oil from the metal before starting is the key. Miss a couple nooks and crannies and it will come right off. Also, if you use bug spray with DEET, Deepwoods OFF, it will soften the Duracoat and it will start peeling off.

I have used this product and preparation is the key. I found sand blasting, then degrease with acetone is best along with heating both the paint and the hardener in a bowl of hot water before and after you mix.

I have used this on two Remington 760's,The paint came off of the action slide bars.Due to the fact that this is a very tight area that gets a lot of heavy use, I dont consider this a bad deal.I have also used it on three H&R single shots to cut the shine.Under regular wear and tear I have seen no sign of this paint comeing off or wearing thin.One time I had extra and even painted a hammer; only the face of the hammer is showing metal, and it took a while for the paint to chip off of that part.

I had my eye on this stuff for a while. Watched some videos on YouTube and ordered some. I have done a rifle and a double barrel shotgun with perfect results. The hardest part was getting up the nerve to try it. You would have to really try to screw it up. Priced right, professional results.

Works well. I had to grit blast this stuff off once due to a goof up on my part. Took a while to get it off. Tougher than gun-kote. Works best if baked. "Do not spray on bolt faces and locking lugs" it will not stay and is not supposed to be there in the first place. It will also alter your head spacing. You should know better!!!!!

Great product! You must strip gun of all grease/oil. I used cheap brake cleaner that leaves no residue and it worked superbly. You should also rough up area with a scotch bright pad if you don't have access to a blaster. If you follow those direction the finish is tough as nails. I coated an SKS/MOSIN91-30/CZ52 with 4oz of matte black. They look great, and are chip/scratch free after many trips to the range.
