Product Information

The Tactical stock has a full length aluminum bedding block for added strength, an adjustable spacer system allowing for .75" of adjustment in length of pull, a rail integrated into the bottom of the forend to mount a bipod and four swivel studs for customized carry options. This stock takes the Savage factory detachable magazine actions with action screws spacing of 4.4" center to center.

I have installed two of these on Savage 12 actions, this stock is an excellent value. You can buy a better stock, but not at this price. The bedding block system is excellent (it is very sturdy and rigid) and everything fit well with only minor fitting. The two negative post before me: the stock only fits the 4.411" action screw spacing center feed DBM actions, and screws are not supplied (if you had the correct action for the stock your old screws would have fit). The bipod adaptor is one of the best features: it stays mounted to the bipod and can be slid back and forth or removed by loosening the clamp screw on your bipod allowing you to change bipods quick and easy if you have extra mounts. I don't care about a fancy box or feel good thank you cards, give me a good deal on something that functions well (that is the reason you bought it to begin with). Just make sure that you get the proper stock for your action, as they are not interchangeable.

Got this stock for a savage 10 fcpxp. Had to use a dremel tool to file out the stock were the trigger guard is. Savage new bolt release trigger guard was too tight. Original stock bolts worked. The stock is good for the price but I'd like to see choate make it in olive green with black spyder webbing. Its hard to find a stock for savages new bolt release on trigger guard. I hope this is helpful to people.

Great feel, nice look, ...

Great feel, nice look, but I had to pull out the dremel tool for the rear post. It was high to the point that the rear of the rifle safety mechanisim was exposed by 1/8 th of an inch. Going to shoot it this weekend and really see how much if any improvement there is. I guess that sometimes you have to custom modify for the exact fit needed. All in all it is a very nice stock.

I have a Savage in 308 ...

I have a Savage in 308 with a detachable magazine and with the bolt release in the trigger guard. It is difficult to find a replacement stock that will work with both. This stock worked really well. I did have to open up the bottom openings a few thousands of an inch so the bottom metal would fit but just used 100 grit sandpaper and took my time. Total installation time less than an hour.Was concerned about how the stock would look but I am very pleased. No mold lines or marks. Finish is very even and front rail is mounted square and flush. Shot at the range today and stock is really comfortable to shoot. Rides the bags very well and absorbs recoil very well. Bi pod attachment is tight and did not loosen under recoil. Very satisfied with this stock.

I have a new style bolt ...

I have a new style bolt release and had to modify the trigger guard with a dremel to get it to fit properly. Also had to dremel the inside to get the bolt release to clear. Took me 20 minutes of fitting then dremel blow it off then repeat.

I love it the best bang ...

I love it the best bang for the buck good fit I went from shooting 1moa to 1/2 with just the stock change. Also better than the cheap one that came in the gun its a savage 10FCP in 308.

I received one of these ...

I received one of these stocks on a rifle I purchased. The overall perfomance of the stock is good. The grip area needed some fine tuning for a better fit, but it worked out well. I was able to switch from my Model 12 .223 to my Model 10 FP .308 with no issues. Simply switch the magazine parts. A very well made, affordable system that shoots well.

Just received stock ...

Just received stock today. Very pleased with quality and form. Nice bipod track. Fit was perfect, I didn't have to do any filing or Dremeling like others. It fit very tight with great clearances everywere. It is alot heavier than the Savage tupperware stock but much more rigid. Has an awesome palm swell and thumb hold. Large barrel float gap for my bull barrel.

I am really frustrated! ...

I am really frustrated! This stock arrived with NO INFORMATION! am I missing something? Why won't it work with an unaltered savage model 11? The trigger guard won't fit properly and there is only one screw; The factory screws are both too long, and it doesn't matter anyway because this won't work with my savage trigger guard! I know it is expensive but I suggest saving for the even higher priced stocks. This thing is a lot of frustration IF you can get it to work at all!

I feel it is important to ...

I feel it is important to write that I DO in fact have the correct stock for my gun. After I realized that I was on my own, I used the one screw which DID come with the stock and trimmed one of the factory screws. I did not mention in my other post that the stock DID work. It is on my gun, shooting VERY accurately and looking very cool. I just want buyers to know that they MAY have to "fanagle" a little on the install. They can learn that from MIDWAY until the manufacturer decides to include some form of instructions. I like the stock. It was NOT hard to install, but the process was made difficult because CHOATE did not communicate effectively. 2.5 stars for CHOATE5.0 stars for the SA (4.4") Tactical!
