I mounted this scope on a lever action 45-70. I also have the Leupold EER 2.5X "scout" scope. The Leatherwood has comparable brightness and clarity. The crosshair center lines (thin) are not quite as crisp as the Leupold, but perfectly acceptable. Midways specs say 1/2 Minute adjustments but my scope says 1/4" on it - and I verified that on paper at 100 yards. The scope sighted in easy, adjusted true and held its point of impact. The point of impact was also constant through the 2 X 7 power range. It withstood 100 rounds of heavy Buffalo Bore ammo with no problems. This is a great value. If it proves as durable in the field as well as weatherproof I will come back to re-rate it a 5.

I found several things to ...

I found several things to like about this scope. It is bright and very clear delivering non-distorted images with a surprising level of detail. The turret adjustments were true and gave the expected changes in point of impact and held them. It looks good and is nicely and evenly finished. There was only the smallest amount of change in eye relief when changing power levels and I only noticed this as I was at the extreme end of the longest allowable relief on my first set up and moving from 2 to 7 power made just enough difference for me to see the need to move the scope back another 1/4''. The cross wires are sharp and neat with no uneven edges but I prefer a little more thickness in the thin center area to aid in picking them up in dim light. These will be tough to see in dim light. Performance wise, this scope is very good. Why only 3 stars? You cannot, it appears, file your product registration on line and if you fail to return the registration card "within 10 days" you are not guaranteed that "all warranty rights" will be established. In addition, you must include a check or money order in the amount of $15.00 with any (pre-authorized) returned product to cover return shipping to you. If Midway was not so reliable in customer satisfaction and you bought a "bummer" somewhere else you might have to pay another $30.00 for your new scope for shipping both ways to get one that is right. This is not a good policy or fair to the customer. Admittedly, this is a "what if" issue but it is not the policy of some other companies. That issue caused me to lower the rating to 4 stars. The words, "Made in China", accounted for the other deduction. We need jobs here in the USA.

Can't take MIA pounding

First time out scope shot a group with my MIA Scout about same as I get using iron sights.

Second time out this scope fell apart internally.
Shots where going helter skelter. When I took cap of windage a screw fell out.

The eye relief is perfect for my Ruger Scout rifle but the lock ring for the eyepiece was frozen or stuck. I've had to use channel lock pliers to move it to lock in the focus and I still couldn't get it to free up.That and the "made in china" label earned it only 2 stars. I'll probably send it back.

This scope is outstanding! I mounted it on a custom made .35 Whelen Scout Rifle. The scope is extremely clear and very bright, especially in low light situations where it counts. The first animal I harvested with this rifle/scope combo was a 120lbs Blackbuck within 10 minutes of complete darkness. The Blackbuck was just a black smudge moving between two trees at 125 meters until I put the scope on it and the antelope just lit up! Without this scope I would not have been able to make that shot. Worth every penny!

great product. worked great with xs sight system on my 1903 scout rifle build. love the 2 to 7 magnification feature. eye relief was perfect and doesnt change with increase to magnification. the view is very clear and bright.

Mounted on a Ruger Gunsite Scout with Burris rings.This scope is amazing for the price. Crystal clear and feels very well made. Looking and shooting with both eyes open is easy. 2x-7x works nicely and the eye relief does not change between power settings. Shot 25 to 250 yards no problem. Confident this scope will be accurate enough out to 450+ yards with the .308

I mounted this on an X-S Clifton mount on my SMLE no4 mk 1and it is wonderful. Every bit of peripheral vision is intact, making follow up shots really quick, as your eye has already acquired your second target before you make your first shot. Variable power is nice to see on a scout scope, and the quality is great. I run 174 or 180 gr SP for hunting, and 150 gr FMJ for target, and the scope is still dead on. I highly recommend this to anyone who isn't satisfied with the status quo in terms of scope set ups. Scout system also makes freehand shooting easier because the extra weight is over the wrist of your fore hand.

Bought the scope to go on a Czech vz58 7.62x39 rifle. Most other scope mounts for the vz mount on the side of the receiver, either canted, or with a shell deflector. Ugly comes to mind. With this scope I could mount it forward and have everything I wanted. I'm planning on doing some 3-gun with this weapon now. I bought some Leapers quick release mounts to go with it. I've already burned 100+ rounds though it. It lets me really pick on poor defenseless paper. I'm delighted with the product.
