OK for target practice

I've been shooting Blazer 125-grain JHP .38 SPL+P since the 1980s. It is full velocity stuff, and it always has been and still is accurate. Inexplicably, CCI changed the bullet design in this ammo a few years ago, and now it won't expand. The old bullet, with more lead exposed at the nose DID expand. I've shot enough critters with both to know. It's good plinking ammo, now, but that's all

Good, cheap practice

This is great practice ammo. Burns clean and more accurate than me. I have had a little sticking in the cylinder with my J frames, but only after 100 or more rounds during a practice session.

I was a bit hesitant to ...

I was a bit hesitant to buy aluminum-cased ammo, but came to discover there was no reason for that as this stuff performed well in my SP101. The only real difference I noticed was that the aluminum cases actually extracted easier than brass; my guess is that these potentially stronger cases expand less upon firing. That was certainly an unexpected benefit, but the ammo in general pleasantly surprised me. It was reasonably accurate and clean burning, and that makes it hard to ignore, especially at this price. CCI advertises these aluminum cased rounds for those who don't reload and want decent quality ammo to practice with. Since I don't reload, it just may be perfect for me. I intend to test some other brands before settling on a practice round, then I'll have to do the same thing to find a defense load. This CCI stuff will remain on my list though, and I'll likely be getting some more.

Considering the price, the quality is great. This has become my regular practice round. I've gone through several boxes, and never a misfire. Never had an issue. As far as punching holes in paper, I see no reason to spend more.

Great ammo, especially for the price. Shoots to Point of aim in my S&W 442 and is quite accurate to boot.
