Frankford Arsenal Drop Out Bullet Mold Release Agent and Lube is great for preparing your molds for casting the modern way. This spray works as both a release agent and a lube. The special formula contains graphite to help bullets drop easily from the mold and also works to prevent rust. For use with iron, aluminum or brass bullet molds.

I must say this stuff is awesome, no one casting should be with out it! I had a problem mold where one of the bullets was not falling out and after using The Drop Out is was no longer a problem, also the quality of my castings improved dramatically after applying the Drop Out spray. I spray all my molds, even the fishing weight molds. I added a muffin pan shaped like ear corn to my collection of casting supplies. I bought the pan to make ingots from melted wheel weights, the first batch of ingots I had to pry out the lead bars with a hammer and a screw driver. After applying the Drop Out spray the shiny ears of lead just fell right out of the pan. Throw away your candles, matches, wooden sticks and forget the mold smoking, Frankford Arsenal Drop Out is the answer.

I guess I am the lone disinter here. I tried this product on a couple of Lee moulds with very poor results. The bullets dropped free very easily but try as I might I could not get good fill out. To top it off, the residue is next to impossible to remove from the mould cavity once it has dried there.I am glad to see others have had good luck with the product, but the only thing I use it on now is my ingot moulds where it really isnt necessary anyway.

I don't cast bullets, I make shot. I use to coat the lip on my shotmaker. It works far better than anything I'found.

I used this just recently for the first time on my lee aluminum block .358 SWC mold. After cleaning the mold well with acetone and tooth brush, my wife's not mine, I gave the can a good shake and sprayed it well making sure to get in all the grooves. I then used a q-tip and cleaned off the pins and lubed them. After heating the blocks to temp I started dropping beautifully formed bullets on the very first cast. No tapping, just open and they drop. Hundreds of casts with no problem. I will be using it from now on.

How to use Drop Out.

I have cast over 6,000 bullets. I use both aluminum and iron molds with this product. First, clean the mold of all oils and dirt with mold cleaner or degreaser common to gun cleaners, Trichloroethylene which evaporates. Use a brush or swab if needed. Spray mold with short bursts of Drop Out in a sweeping movement. Spray in mold chamber both up and down to cover full bullet surface. Let dry for 5 seconds between spraying. Also spray outside surface and sprue plate. This keeps sprue from jamming up the mold. Using this mold spray does not affect bullet size any more than smoking. Of course you must re-clean and re-apply when coating wears off. Multiple coats will eventually affect bullet size. I have several molds. Some cast lighter bullets than they are designed for and some are heavier. Casting alloys will cause weight differences, not the coating. Using different alloy mixes and changing pot temperatures will help you cast better bullets. There is nothing wrong with this product.

This mold release does ...

This mold release does work, but it is terrible for my Lee molds. It make the bullets drop out, but they are all undersized and wrinkled. I could never get just a light coating that would not affect the actual bullet dimensions, so I tried to remove all traces of this agent. After an HOUR of scrubbing using acetone and Goof-Off, the molds came clean. It does stick very well and does drop the bullets out of the mold. Maybe it works better on other brands of molds, but for the Lee 30 cal and 12ga slug molds it was a huge waste of time. If your mold is right at perfect size, you may not want to use this. I'll look for other applications as this product does work as a release agent pretty well.

Buy this lube and use it when casting bullets. That's all I can say. I'll be buying more cans when I get more molds for my other calibers. With this stuff, I was casting perfect bullets on my very first pour. The things just fall right out of the mold when you pre-apply this spray. Superb.

Got this some time ago. Kept forgetting to use it until yesterday. "Shazzam!" as Gomer would say. The bullets dropped out of the mold (I use Lee and a couple Lyman) and were all uniform and smooth. I don't think I will be forgetting to use this anymore. You do have to reshoot the mold after a while as the stuff does come off. Still, that isn't half as bad as not having to hit the mold more to get bullets to drop out.

This product makes bullets drop like nobody's business. It took some time experimenting with techniques to get that perfect light coat so that the bullets did not have any texturing. Getting that coating and cleaning the face so that the vents weren't filled just takes too much time for me, so back to soot it is. I still use this product on the sprue plates and will get another can for that purpose when this one runs out. For cleaning the entire mold solvent and your plastic bristle brush will take it off in no time, then clean with soapy water as usual.

Works well for my aluminum and brass molds. Give the molds a thin coat only in the cavities. I also spray this on my teflon coated pans which I use for pan lubing my lead bullets. After a while, the teflon wears off and the wax cake won't release. This helps release the wax cake from the pan after about 10 minutes cooling in the refrigerator. Great product. I have 5 cans in my bench. Thanks frankford and midway!!

Best product I've ever used for pouring. I used it on my worst mold that I always have trouble pouring with and it worked perfectly the first time I used it. I will never be without a can.
