I've spent my money ...

I've spent my money looking for a decent magazine for my Taurus PT-1911; I've tried several brands, including some surprisingly high-end ones, always to be disappointed with failures to feed. I honestly expected the Mec-Gar to be another in a long string of failed experiments. Long story short -- these are now my primary magazines, even over factory. Yes, they're that good. I shouldn't be surprised, but after all my disappointments, this was a major happy moment and I just can't recommend this magazine highly enough. These are worth the money, heck, they're cheap for what you get. Seriously. Might be why they're sold out...

This magazine is almost ...

This magazine is almost perfect.... It is polished nice. Feels thick and good quality. The follower doesn't tilt very much. etc....So whats the problem? Same problem as most 1911 9mm magazines. The top 2 rounds on a full mag create a gap that allows the round to nose dive.

I bought a Rock Island ...

I bought a Rock Island Tactical 9mm 1911. I also bought 3 of the Mec-Gar Magazines and they worked perfect. They work great with ball round and hollow point with no jams.

I have never been ...

I have never been disappointed in a Mac Gar magazine and this one is no exception. My Kel Tec comes with one and I own other .45 ACP Mec Gar mags and they all work great. I bought this magazine to use in a 9MM Kimber. The magazine that came with my Kimber is rather hard to load as the second round always sticks and you have to juggle the first round around to find the sweet spot that will allow the 2nd round to load. The follower seems to drag in the inside of the mag. body when loading also. This being said it works fine but the Mec Gar is much easier to load each round goes in easy. This was one of the cheapest 1911 9mm mags but works very well. I would not hesitate to buy other Mec Gar mags for any gun I own.

Very good quality ...

Very good quality magazine. Nickel finish looks great against my stainless steel 1911. Works in my Taurus pt1911 in 9mm. Nicer than the Taurus mags and less money also.

Functions better than my ...

Functions better than my Springfield and Colt factory mags. The floorplate is indeed pretty hard, and ideally you'd have a carbide bit to drill it, but I managed to drill four holes with just high speed steel tooling.

Hands down the best 9mm ...

Hands down the best 9mm mag I have seen or used for the 1911. Highly polished metal to be smooth and slick. The base is not drilled for a base pad, and unless you have a diamond bit you won't be drilling one either. The base is hardened stainless steel and a titanium bit in a drill press would not even scratch the metal. Go with a glue on pad or plan on going to a machine shop and paying for their service.
