The Barska Blackhawk ED Spotting Scope is loaded with features and is only available at MidwayUSA. The Blackhawk ED has all the features of the regular Blackhawk including a rubber armored exterior and water and fogproof construction. However, the ED has features that put it in a new class. The ED (extra low dispersion) lenses provide an extraordinarily clear picture that is sharp and color correct with minimum chromatic aberration. A larger eyepiece provides improved eye relief making this model more suitable for eyeglass wearers. The Blackhawk ED is perfect for use at the range or in the field glassing for far off game. Included with the spotting scope are a soft case, a hard case, a tabletop tripod, a cleaning cloth and lens covers. The Barska Blackhawk ED is covered by a limited lifetime factory warranty.

On receiving this scope, I checked it out across our local bay, spotting a Jeep on a mountain ridge approx. 8,000 yards away(scaled off a map). I could count the "teeth (6) in the Jeep's grill. This was with considerable humidity, a 15mph cross-wind and some dust from plowed cane fields upwind! I'm very impressed with this scope and have had considerable experience with quality optics over the years as a surveyor. I know good glass when I see it and this is very good glass. Also impressive was the way it held focus while zooming - no adjustment was needed when tuning-in after scanning at 20 power or so and then jumping up to 60 power. A great scope!

Objective lens cover is ...

Objective lens cover is to large and falls off the assembly. the eye piece eye relief is extremely shallow and difficult get a full image at magnification above 20X's. Cannot use with eye glasses; one must remove before a full image can be obtained and one must press the eye as close as possible to get a full image.

I have used this once in the desert. I wear eye glasses and finding target was pretty easy. 200 yards its a dream of a scope. Pushing out to 300 yds. I couldn't see hits of a 7.62x54r, there was a mirage effect going on. A shoot NC type target may do the trick tomorrow? I mounted mine on a builders level tripod. I am pleased with the scope and would recommend for the sale price. Yes lens covers fall off, need a MacGyver fix.

I was in need of a new spotting scope that would permit me to see 45-70 and .308 hits @ 300 yards. My 15 year-old 36X was not up to the task yet my budget was limited.This ED scope cannot clearly delineate every .308 hole at 300 but it can pick up a 45-70 (.458) holes easily. At 300 yards, just use a Caldwell orange-peel or other similar flake target and your good at least up to 300 yards with a .308 and perhaps even a smaller caliber bullet.The tripod is identical to the one that came with my old spotting scope. I would recommend a better tripod if you shoot where there is gusty wind.

I purchased this scope first as a gift and then one for myself. The optics are extremely bright and sharp. The scope exhibits exceptionally clarity with a crisp focus. The eye relief is very good at lower powers 20 x, 40x though a little short at 60x. The tripod is weak but passable. I may purchase a new tripod if I find this one shakes a little too much for my liking. This scope is an exceptionally good value and an excellent value on sale. The length of the scope tip to tip is approx. 15.5 inches and fits perfectly inside its soft carry case and then placed inside my MidwayUSA medium range bag.

I bought mine on sale, but I think that even at the regular price it's a good buy. The optics are bright on a cloudy day even at 60 power. The resolution is very good, I can see .22 bullet holes at about 200 yards and I can distinguish holes that are touching each other at this distance. I wear eyeglasses and have no trouble viewing with them on. Many reviewers complain about the lens caps falling off - an easy fix is to put a rubber band with sufficient tension around the perimeter of the cap. "Problem" solved. The included tripod is all right, but nothing more. However, I didn't buy the scope for the quality of the tripod. All-in-all a very good quality scope at a reasonable price.

I find this scope very easy to set up and use. The metal tripod that came with mine is sturdy and the focusing knob is easily accessible. Areas of the indoor range I shoot at can be dark but the 60mm lens can gather enough light to make viewing easy. I wear eye glasses and the eye relief works for me. Like others have reported, the plastic lens covers are loose fitting.

Crazy deal. When they say ED in the description, it's not just blowing smoke - this glass is amazing for the money. I was worried that a 60x scope with a 60mm objective bell would be too dark to use at high power with a 1mm exit pupil diameter, but the glass makes up for it. I was out back on a recent clear night and Jupiter was easily viewable, its red band was noticeable and 4 of its moons were visible as well. And I live in the city where light pollution limits visibility to major stars and planets with the naked eye. I can't wait to take it out to the country and see what it can do. The one compromise you have with this scope is significant image curvature at the margins on high power, but it's only the very edge of the image area and I will gladly take that in trade for a crystal clear, quality scope at this price point.

Ive had a Barska Blackhawk 20-60x60mm for a couple of years that is good enough to see up to about 100 yards but is junk past that. I needed a spotting scope for 300 to 600 yards and possibly further. I actually got to look through some Leupold Sequoia scopes at some local sporting goods stores. They were awesome, but $400+. I was hesitant to purchase another Barska product, but the reviews on this ED scope were too good to ignore. I am really impressed! The glass is exceptionally clear. The eye relief is great. The focus is my favorite part. It is so smooth and easy to focus. The regular Barska Blackhawk scope I have has a very small window for focus past 20x. Using this ED scope to see 6.5mm bullet holes on paper at 300 yards is a breeze. On sale this scope is half the cost of the Leupolds and just as good in my opinion. Oh and the caps that others are complaining about did not bother me at all. MidwayUSA and Barska have a real winner here with this scope. I am a bargain hunter and this is definitely a bargain!

This is good glass for a low price. Clarity & resolution are quite good; using it recently at Sunset Beach, NC, I could identify color & type of vehicles crossing the Ocean Isle Bridge, a distance of 7 miles. I had to return the first one received which was flawed; the quickly delivered replacement is entirely satisfactory.
