The MagPul BAD (Battery Assist Device) extended bolt catch attaches to the standard AR-15 bolt catch with a backplate and screw, making for easy installation with zero permanent gun modifications. The BAD features a thin, low profile to help minimize snagging, yet offers lightning fast reloads by allowing the bolt catch/release to be engaged using the trigger finger within the trigger guard. Machined from 6061 billet aluminum for strength and durability.

NOTE: The BAD is compatible with all standard, mil-spec forged AR-15 upper/lower receivers, as well as HK416, Vltor VIS/MUR, Larue Stealth, and many other billet upper/lower combinations. It is NOT compatible with LR-308, SR-25, AR-10 or other .308 AR-style platforms.

The MagPul B.A.D. is an ...

The MagPul B.A.D. is an ingeniously simple device that allows the AR-15/M-4 shooter to lock open and release the bolt without taking the firing hand off the pistol grip. For right-handers, the index/trigger finger simply pushes up on the lever to lock the bolt, and pushes down on it to release the bolt. For southpaws, the index/trigger finger simply pushes the lever in (laterally) to engage the bolt catch. The right hand manipulates the lever (releases the bolt catch) after it inserts a magazine. The MagPul B.A.D. is well-made out of aircraft aluminum and has a hard anodized coating. It doesn't get in the way of the trigger hand, even when wearing gloves; also, doesn't catch on gear any more than all that other stuff we all have on our M-4s like lights, sights, grips, etc. Excellent product. Highly recommended.

Didn't fit DPMS sportical

Attached just fine until I went to put on my upper reciever, turns out DPMS has different recievers so it wasn't compatible. But that wasn't the only problem, the sealant on the screws threads made it difficult to screw in the screw without stripping the screw. I did achieve to strip some of the screw which is quite pathetic for a screw with a Torx head. I wish I would have read about this problem with DPMS somewhere.

I didn't know if I could get used to operating my rifle this way but after a little practice it is a very nice addition. Very easy manipulation for clearing malfunctions.

This is one of the add-on parts that is a necessity on an AR. During a Speed Reload, you can save measurable time getting another bullet into the chamber. Every millisecond counts when your life depends on it. It was very easy to install. I bought extra lock-tite to ensure it does not come loose/

Added this to my awesome AR and it works like a charm. I love the fact that I can now slam a magazine into the mag well and immediately release the bolt with my trigger finger as I am aiming for the next shot! Speed kills baby!! PS...the screw doesn't strip if you start it out correctly but I guess that is a little too difficult for some people...LOL!

Another great product from MagPul. Installation was quick and easy. I had to machine a spacer to fit next to the roll pin of the standard release to take some of the play out of it but now it is rock solid. No more wiggle when I operate the lever. Highly recommend this product.

This is a great product. Makes it so easy to lock back and release your bolt. Good solid construction. All components are air craft quality aluminum. Very simple to install with the instructions. This is a must have for anyone serious about having a good AR. I will buy two more for my other two ARs.

If you ever use an AR for timed competition or for defense/offense, you need to give this a try. It allows you to lock the bolt open or drop the bolt on a fresh mag without removing your weapon hand from the pistol grip. Reloads and charging of the weapon are much faster and more intuitive. I have one on every AR.

Excellent product. Does not get in the way of shooting finger. Have not tried it while wearing gloves though. Really decreased time of mag changes.
