Has a dull finish that matched my gold cup. Took about 2 hrs because I shortened the extended area by 1/4 in. It was a little too long for me. It came too close to the extended safety I have. There is no problem to release slide. Where the detent rides the metal was uneven and kept pushing the stop slightly up to the slide and did not sit right. Once I got that area flat it worked great. A touch up on the pin that locks slide was needed so it would not rub the bottom of the slide. If you are willing to take the time it works and looks great when finished.

I bought a Swenson slide stop but what I got had no mention of Swenson on it. It came with a company tag of "The JTM Company" in the bag. I also would suggest not altering the finish at all because it is hiding many quality issues in the base metal. This "no name supplier" issue was also the case with another Swenson part I bought, so be wary of "Swenson".

You get what you pay for. This part is no gem and it is a dark color. But, it is oversized to acheive a perfect fit. If you know how to fit a slide stop you will have to file this one. The part is cheap but so are the wilson combat slide stops that are mim. I wanted extended parts so I could change mags without moving my grip. So I ordered a few different safetys, magazine releases, and some slide stops. The combination I came up with that is perfect is this extended slide stop, a regular safety (the exteded safety from wilson combat was a nice part but was big enough I had to reach my thumb around it to get to the slide stop), and the wilson oversize magazine release. This comination is perfect. Four stars for the dark finish that doesn't match any gun I've seen and also for being .040 too big in one spot.

Purchased a Swenson Extended Slide Stop and was very disapointed in the quality. I immediately noticed the finish was removed and scratched in multiple places, I would think this slide stop was used and returned by another customer because of the same problems that I experienced. It is advertised that 'no gunsmithing' is required but also indicates that 'minor fitting required' This slide stop was very long and not even minor fitting would make it fit. I attempted to insert it in all four of my 1911's, being Kimber and Springfield Armory. There was a burr on the part that was pushed up by the follower to lock the slide. The finish is very rough, like sandpaper and when inserted into the handgun it scrapes off, any metal to metal contact was ruining the finish. It would have been better not to have a coating on the slide stop at all. I am going to trade this in for a Wilson Combat slide stop knowing it will look good and fit properly because I purchased them before.

Bought one last year to replace a broken stop. Took about an hour of patient filing to get the stop to fit into my Colt Commander, and another two hours or so of finish work in between two trips to the range to get it to function properly. This is the first time I've done this, so I took my time. Surfaces were a little rough so it got smoothed down a wee bit and polished.

First class "P.O.S.". The worst part I have ever purchased. mine also came with the JTM label. This is trash and I will order another for my kimber target. I will never order another swenson part again.

I purchased 2 of these. For fitting and initial testing, remove the left side grip since it can cause clearance problems. First one went into my stainless Colt Gold Cup 45 ACP. The part dropped in, but I experienced occasional slide release blockage problems when magazine was empty; no matter how hard I pressed down, the slide would not release. I started filing since it appeared that there wasn't enough clearance between the slide stop and the magazine lip. After removing a small amount of material, now with a clear gap between the slide stop and the magazine lip, I still had problems with the empty magazine. Further analysis revealed that the problem was occurring with my older magazines which had non-skirted followers. With magazine empty, the non-skirted follower could move forward slightly and that was enough to keep the follower from being depressed by the slide stop. I haven't figured out why the problem did not occur with the original slide stop but since I've experienced other types of failures with these older magazines, I simply set them aside. In retrospect, I probably didn't have to remove any material if I had just used my newer magazines with skirted followers. I also had to trim a tiny bit of material off the rubber grip because it was acting like the spring of an empty magazine, thereby causing the slide to lock open after every shot. The second one went into my Armscor-made Citadel compact 45 ACP. It has a parkerized finish but I installed the stainless version of this product for accent. The distance from this gun's pin to its slot in the frame was too short to fit this slide stop so I had to file it down. I also had to file a tiny bit of material from the wood grip. The matte finish did not have the appearance that I liked so I polished it with fine grit sandpaper.

An update to my prior ...

An update to my prior review: I purchased another one of these slide stops and using a file and progressively finer grit abrasives I was able to match the look and polished finish on my Springfield Trophy Match. It took me about 45 minutes and another 15 to fit it to the gun. It now looks and works just like it was an original factory part.

Bought this , came in on Fri. so I was able to do the minor fitting with my Grandson. It took 2 or 3 hrs. of trial and fit time, but he's 15yrs old and knew nothing of 1911 handguns. NOW he is stoked, thinks he wants to try and build one his self.....enough said. pass on the fun....PRICELESS !!!!

I'm very please with this item, you'd never know this part didn't come standard with the gun.Fit: Perfect drop in fit, no modification required.Finish: The style and finish almost perfectly matched that of the Taurus' thumb safety.Functionality: Worked flawlessly, no issues.
