This peep sight is very ...

This peep sight is very difficult to adjust for sight-in. After several rounds I found that a quarter turn of the elevation lock screw moved the bullet strike at 100 yards about an inch. But the windage remains a mystery. In view of difficulties ( with a 30-30) in future I'd gladly pay the difference for the Foolproof with click adjustment.

Well made, but poorly designed. Even minor windage adjustments result in set screw asymmetry. And windage adjustment is difficult since the index marks relate to nothing I can figure out (cubits?) Finally, with the windage set screws loose movement is hard to modulate.

Mounted this sight on an 1894 Cowboy rifle in 357. The sight mounted securely with no problems and the Marbles dovetail filler tapped into the slot where the old rear sight was firmly without any fileing. I did have to use the hammer spur supplied with the rifle and it clears the sight but not by much. At the range it required little zeroing with the sight set on the 6th hash mark from the top at 50 yds using the factory front sight.

I bought both models, because even the tech guy wasn't sure what I should mount on my 1895GS. Both models fit, but there was almost 1/4" gap on the left side for the up and down adjustment and trying to make small adjustments on the peep sight for windage is almost impossible. I gave them to a friend who had the same problem, but used them anyway...Oh well.

I installed this peep sight on a Marlin 1894 44 Rem mag. It fit and installed without any problems. The factory front sight height is fine with this sight. Don't forget to order a Marble's dovetail slot filler (p#383424) to replace the facory rear sight you'll remove for this installation.

This does NOT work with the factory front sight, it needs a taller one. Adjusted all the way down, it shoots 6 inches high at 100 yards. Gun is a 30-30 with 20" barrel. Windage is a pain to adjust, but you only have to do it once.

I have used these sights for several years on everything from a 39 Mountie to a 336 Cowboy (30-30) and 1894, 44Mag, fullhouse loads. It is a pain to adjust, at first, but stays there when locked down, so long as you don't change anything. The metal used is very strong. It is a great value, especially if on sale!

Installed this sight on my Marlin 1895 45/70 to replace the factory buck-horn sights. The original sights were getting hard to get a clear sight picture (60 year old eyes). The Williams sight was easy to install. Sighted it in at 50 yards and then at 100 yards. I went from a 5 inch group on a 10" bull with the factory sights to a 1.6" 5 shot group with the Williams sight. The ammo was my reloads with a 405 grain cast bullet and Accurate Arms XP 5744. What a great group and a clear sight picture. I will be getting another of these for my Marlin 1894 in .44 mag.

I installed a Williams receiver sight on my 1895c.b. my groups at 100yds are around 1-1/4 for 5 shots. A great sight at a great price. It really helps as my eyes won't focus on open sights anymore. Thanks Midway and Williams sights.
