These particular scope mounts are poor in design. The two screws that screw into the rear sight have a see-saw like motion and do not offer a firm base for the amount of recoil that a mosin nagant has. I have ordered one and fit perfectly, yet after about 20 rounds, the screws became loose even after using red loctite. After a very frustrated day at the range, I came home and ordered the "tri-rail" from a particular company and right off the bat you can tell it was a firm fit. Please reconsider another mount.

I started not to buy it ...

I started not to buy it because of the ratings. but I looked at it closely and began to install it. I did have to swipe a fine file a few times for the holes to get close to line up. I put a good bit of loctite on every screw. once I got it lined up fairly square and had the big screws where the mount was level, I tightened the smaller set screws into the leveling screws and let it sit for 48 hrs before shooting. I started to make a wedge and place under the big gap where the screws press against but so far Ive had no problems. I like this better because it involves no drilling or tapping to the receiver and you can always put the back sight back on. just be patient with it. only reason I didnt put 5 stars is because of the amount of space between the mount and barrel that I mentioned before..... but if they milled one like that it would be kind of hard to file to fit.

Could not get the hole to line up, and when I did the allen bolt broke off. Save your money, this product is no good. period

I purchase the mount for my Model 44 Russian.Absolutely more work than it's worth. Filing, filing and more filing. Finally got it on the rifle, laser bore sighted LER scope, took it out to shoot. First shot and scope and mount flew off gun and landed in the dirt. Really not what I was looking for in a mount.

Placed this mount on my Mosin Nagant M38. I had to file the front of the base a little to get it to fit. It took no more then 5 minutes total to install. Looks good now with a Red Dot.

Mount was simple to install, but did require some filing to fit. I rated this item so low because the mount came loose after 9 rounds, despite having used red loctite on all screws after making sure they were very tight. Not that this really matters much but my mount was also not the same color as the one pictured, it's actually a very dark purple!
