i've owned maybe 3 brands of snapcaps, a-zoom are the best and only ones that survived; the brittle seethru plastic ones have literally broken during normal use - spring shot out the front end. these maroon a-zooms have held up for years.

I bought 5 packs of these so I could practice and teach others to load my Mossberg 590.Like others have mentioned though, every single one of the shell rims has chipped when it hits against the shell detente at the end of the magazine tube, resulting in a double feed and a damaged snap cap. Perhaps it is the spring strength in my 8 round tube that causes them to bash into the detente a little harder than on most other guns, but in any case they're breaking and double feeding. Definitely NOT GOOD! They're not unusable, but I'm afraid the whole rim might chip off completely eventually and render them useless. At least I'm getting good practice clearing jams...On the positive side, the anodizing of the caps is tough, and the weight of each cap closely mimics a typical shotshell. The soft primer does its job protecting your firing pin, and they're made of metal, but whatever it is it's very brittle!

For cowboy shooting, buying four of these snap caps to practice on my SxS was the best choice ever. I really reduced my shotgun time. Used them hundreds of times but always standing on carpet though, and they still function fine.

I have these for all of my 12's, 20's and 28's, including a Remington 1100 in 28 gauge. I have used the other plastic ones and they never last, always breaking off around the rim. These do a great job and have given me zero problems.

Really nice craftsmanship. Not for anything that's rough on ammo.If you have a side by side or an over and under these are probably ok for you. I have a pump action that I wanted to use these in and they're already showing signs of scratching and more troubling gouging from the extractor. I took my shotgun apart and saw flakes of aluminum inside.

As much fun as these are to cycle through my Remington 1100, they are also a very useful tool. For example with a semi auto, you can have the snap cap in the chamber and load the magazine with real shot. Squeeze the trigger on the dummy and leave it in. Now when the bolt is pulled back (as what would happen to the bolt when a shot is fired) the extractor will throw out the dummy and get the next shell ready. Seems like a useful but safe way to store a home defense weapon. The real benefit of these, for me personally, is that I can train people unfamiliar but interested in shooting how to properly load and unload the gun while explaining the general dynamics of the system before heading out to the clay range. My only issue with these is that they scar up really easily. I have cycled them about a dozen times already and the rims look pretty sad. Maybe my extractor is just rough on shells, I've never really noticed before. But then again keep in mind that these are anodized aluminum and not brass and therefore definitely harder material. I suppose they can be sanded a bit on the rim to be made smooth again, but as the other review mentioned they might continue to leave some residue. All in all they are a nice product that I would recommend, however don't expect them to hold up to 3000 cycles.

These cycle great through my Remington 870. They show a little wear and tear, but that doesn't bother me, because I'd rather wear out the snap cap than the shotgun. If you have a new gun you're not really all that familiar with I highly recommend these as a training aid!
