The previous reviewer has a point about the stock screws bearing against rubber, BUT, the fix is simple and these butt pads are an excellent value for the price. The cost would be three times as much if a metal bushing was molded in the rubber. Just get a couple of #10 brass finishing washers, flatten out the middle, enlarge the holes slightly, and press them upside down into the recesses around the butt pad screw holes to give the two screws something to bear against. They will tighten up nicely, and the brass washers will keep the screws from working loose.

It's so hard that it's more of an extended butt plate than a recoil pad. Sent mine back the same day I received it.

Failed design from the start. The A2 buttstock pad or plate is the only pressure point for holding the stock tightly against the lower receiver. Therefore, the thin, soft rubber against which the ONLY screw is tightened will pass right through, or one can live with a loose stock. Needs thicker, harder rubber, and LONGER stock screw as well. The aftermarketplace is full of these failed designs simply because nobody wants to design one around a LONGER stock screw.

This could be a good recoil pad except for one problem. The top butt pad screw (this screw is what holds the stock to the receiver) on my AR A2 stock is countersunk. This pad has a flat washer molded into it for said screw and the two do not work well together.

I could not for the life ...

I could not for the life of me get this thing on correctly, the rubber ripped easily, the metal washer was dragged out while tightening the screw, could not get it to stay in no matter what I tried. However it felt like it would have done a great job absorbing recoil.

Poor fit on the Stoner A2 ...

Poor fit on the Stoner A2 stock, holes don't line up causing screws to want to cross thread. Don't know if the screws will pull out I never got it mounted. Will be sending it back. No reflection on Midway, just not a very good product.

Bad experience with this rubber pad. Just as stated by others, the top screw pulls thru the rubber and the stock comes off! It looks great, but does not work, a waste of money!

Okay the bottom line on ANY part you buy for your rifle that is represented as a "bolt on", is that it should be just that, "bolt on". I wanted to be able to just bolt on this pad and be done; mine pulled through like all the others. Not sure if I can return it, but I will try. So if you like to mess around with something that may or may not fit, may or may not last, then take a stab at this item, but I would not recommend this item.

The pad has nice metal bushings now so the rubber doesn't squish out from the screw heads. However, it fits very poorly, with stock material sticking out past the top and the bottom of the pad. I also tried it on two other friends' stocks and the poor fit was the same.

Read the reviews and bought anyway. Reviews were true - save your money. Did not even get the top screw tight enough to butt the stock up and the screw already pulled though the ridiculously small metal insert. I bought this due to the poor fitment of the factory A2 butt plate, but I think this one was actually worse. Not even retuning it. I should have known better.
