Now you can shoot 2" or less groups at 25 yards without sending you pistol to a pistolsmith. The barrel is cut to exact specifications of most 1911 handguns made by Colt, Springfield Armory and Kimber. With some handguns, minor removal of some material may be required. This is a 5" stainless steel barrel for Government-style handguns in 45 ACP.

I installed this on a Springfield Loaded 1911 and it required some fitting. Had to remove some material off the barrel link and some other areas. Once fit it's extremely tight, with minimal play. You should get a Wilson Barrel Link Kit and Pin as well if you plan on using this barrel. Makes the Springfield barrel look like crap. Highly recommended.

Got my new drop in match barrel for my 80 series colt combat elite, today. I ordered the Wilson link(#3) and pin to go with it. The fit was nearly perfect. I had to dress the barrel bushing to the slide a wee bit and the holes for the link pin had to be drilled out with a standard 5/32" bit but, it went smooth and I couldn't have been more satisfied with the way it turned out. Haven't been to the range yet so, can't report on the performance, yet.

Not exactly drop in. ...

Not exactly drop in. Installed on a Colt Series 70, Barrel required very minor material removal but fit and lock up are a big improvement over the factory barrel. Bushing fit to barrel was perfect, bushing to slide fit required a bit of work but much easier than fitting a "gunsmith fit" barrel. Make sure to order a barrel link and pin with this as its not supplied. Quality of the barrel was outstanding.

First of all, was not drop-in. Had to take it to a gunsmith to get it installed, but overall, it was a very well-made barrel. Groupings have tightened significantly. Now my next move is to put in a target sight.

Just a note for Gold Cup 70 series owners: this is not a drop in replacement but instead it requires removal of material to get it to fit. It required the services of a gunsmith to accurately fit mine as I lack the grinding tools and experience to do it myself. Accuracy did improve with this barrel but I gave it four stars because it was not a drop in fit.

I just installed a new Wilson "drop in" barrel into my Kimber Custom Target II today. I closely compared the two barrels and noticed that the Wilson barrel walls are almost twice as thick as the Kimber. Also the Wilson barrel doesn't have a loaded chamber notch at the rear of the barrel hood. In addition, I had to purchase a barrel link and link pin separately and some fitting was required for that. The Wilson barrel unit is of a very high quality and the finish inside and out are superb. The barrel bushing that came with the barrel was a problem. It didn't fit anything, it took considerable reaming to fit the barrel then a lot of outside turning to fit the slide. When I was finally able to fit the bushing the barrel did "drop in" perfectly. The new barrel cycles smoothly with a solid lock-up and as a bonus will chamber wadcutters which the Kimber wouldn't. I'm anxious to test out the new barrel for accuracy.Jim in So Cal

Dropped right in to my Kimber TLE II. The only issue was in the barrel bushing, that needed some fitting to the slide. Other than that this is an excellent product.

Other than not coming with the link installed, this is a good upgrade for the price. Dropped straight in to my Springfield GI with no smithing. It was a little tight to cycle by hand, but it only took about 50 rounds to break it in, and it improved accuracy over my factory barrel that had about 8,000 rounds through it.

As with all things mechanical the barrel didn't 'drop' in. But the time to fit was well worth the result !!! Pistol now very accurate and will feed even fired empty cases. Thanks Wilson ....
