be careful

I used this product to pillar bed a Boyd laminated stock. The size hole required to install the rear pillar took out all the wood. I had to pack the trigger area with clay to set the rear pillar. The end result was fine, but be aware that the manufacture's instructions do not cover this problem and you may need to improvise.

I have used this product twice, on Vanguards. Both guns held just tight enough to pass the 1.5" group warranty. After free floating the barrels and installing the pillars both rifles (.243 win) went to .6" and .5" five shot groups.

Excellent product. Tip: make sure that you coat the inside of the screw holes of the pillars with release agent and plug them with clay around the screws to prevent any bedding compound from getting in there when you push it down into the stock. Otherwise you are going to have one heck of a time getting those screws out!

Very clever design for adjusting the length and angle. Just be sure to seal off the screw holes and hold-down screws with clay to prevent bedding compound from seeping in, otherwise you will have a hard time getting those hold-down screws out...lesson learned. I will probably do my Rem 700 also.

I had a poor shooting Vanguard that I was about ready to send back to Weatherby. I suspected the problem was in the bedding. So decided to pillar bed it with this kit first to see if a stress free bedding job would fix the problem. The results were amazing, the rifle went from 2" groups to .5" groups. That was several years ago. Since then I have used this kit again with good results on another rifle. The instructions on the disk are good, the adjustable pillars easy to use, and the results are a professional bedding job that will last. I used Pro Bed 2000 for the bedding compound and recommend it also.
