people need to understand ...

people need to understand that every bullet is different, u can only use the bullet weight to an extent. the reason COL is different is because the bullets are shaped different. if u shoot hornady bullets then this would be a good book. and for the superformance loads im sure that they have their reasons for not listing everything they offer in a factory loading. back to the bullets, if u look at say bullets with crimp grooves the amount of bullet that sits in the case is different with every manufacturer, that is why COL is different for different bullets. if people really knew what they were talking about they wouldnt complain so much. and for the velocity listings, you arent going to get exactly what other books list anyways, there are to many variables in reloading and guns, that is why they only have estimated velocities.

I'm pretty disappointed ...

I'm pretty disappointed in this edition of the Hornady reloading manual. I have used Hornady's 5th edition for years, and with all the new powders and bullets that have been introduced since the 5th edition, I thought the 8th edition of the Hornady manual would be a wealth of knowledge. Wow, was I wrong! While there are some new powders listed, many of the new bullets made by Hornady are not even mentioned, such as the 30 caliber 208 gr AMAX, the 208 gr BTHP, and the 225 BTHP. The 30 caliber is the No. 1 caliber used in hunting and match shooting, and Hornady doesn't have reloading data available for their own bullets? Come on, the 208 gr AMAX has been around for three years! I have been a faithful reloader of Hornady bullets for many, many years, but their latest reloading manual is incomplete at best and lazy at worst. Throw in the fact that nearly EVERY Hornady bullet is forever OUT OF STOCK, I just want to yell at them "GET INTO THE BULLET BUSINESS, OR GET OUT OF IT!!" >=(

Absolutly terrible! Bought a Hornady reloading book, back in mid 70-s don't know what edition way more information. Lost it while moving from Pa. to NC all my infomation gone. New 8th edition total piece of junk, compared to the other one. Don't waste your time or money! If shipping wasn't so much I would sent it back to Hornady, worse money I ever spent.

This book has major discrepancies when cross checked against other reloading manuals. I was loading .308 using a specific powder and used this manual to work up a ladder to take to the range. I cross checked it while using another book to load some more using a different powder. The max load in the hornady book was basically the starting load in the other three books I checked. Needless to say I think I wasted a lot of time and resources using this errant book. Don't buy it. Get any other book.

I upgraded from the Hornady 3d Edition and am not impressed. I miss the exterior ballistics section. They don't use Hodgdon Clays powder for several of the handgun cartridges I reload. The section for 223 Service Rifle Data doesn't help me, and the M-1 Garand section powder selection is strange.

Well, I have to admit that I have ordered hundreds of items from Midway over the years and this is my first review. Why? Simply stated...I don't think I have ever been this disappointed from a product of such a trusted name as Hornady. Hornady hides their load info like the Viet Cong. Nothing on website, not a taste to be had, so you're forced to buy the book. So naturally, you expect the holy grail to be hidden within these pages...WRONG!!!! Minimal powder selection with NO DENSITY INFORMATION!! Let me repeat that, NO DENSITY INFORMATION!! The most important element in consistent velocity and accuracy, and they leave it out.

Rather disappointed with this manual. Great history lessons on every cartridge in the book. Of course I wanted a reloading manual not a history book on ammunition.

I dont know.... Over all the book has lots of good loads and information, but the whole reason I bought the book was for the information on the new SUPERFORMANCE powder. It goes without saying, I was let down. I shoot and load quite a bit, mainly 243, 222, and recently 223. Beings you can buy SUPERFPRMANCE factory loads from Hornady I was really hoping to find the loads in this book, guess I should have read up on it some more hu. Oh well its ok there are SUPERFORMANCE and LEVERevolution loads in the book just not for the cartridges that I was looking for. Save your money and get a Lee or Lyman book.

This manual is very informative as most. The manual has the newer Hornady bullets also. Shop here as the two largest "sporting goods / restaurant" stores charge an additional ten dollars for the same reloading manual.

I purchased this book for the new Marlin Express loads (308 and 338). The book does contain this information; however, other information is lacking.Velocities for each powder charge are estimated. For example: using X, Y, and Z grains of powder will deliver 3,000, 3,100, and 3,200 feet per second muzzle speed. Most books list an exact chronograph speed for each powder charge. Not that this is wrong - just not to my liking.Overall, not a bad book. I'm happy to have it in my collection.
