Product Information

This handy Picatinny-style accessory rail is constructed from CNC machined 6061 anodized aluminum, and makes use of the often forgotten bayonet lug under an AR-15's front sight. The useful 3-1/2" length of rail creates a perfect mounting platform for attaching vertical grips or lights/lasers. It allows the original sling swivel to be used, and offers the option of adding new sling attachment systems. Installation is simple, requiring a single pin to hold the rail securely in place. Made in the USA.

I was a little disappointed in the CrossTac Sight Rail. It is a well made product however after I installed it, it was very loose and would not be suitable for mounting a laser sight (flashlights are ok). I eventually purchased a similar product that had a locking screw which tensioned against the bayonet lug and eliminated the play between the two parts. Also, I would like to note that this product cannot be used in conjunction with the side sling mount that I had attached to the front sight post. If this rail mount had a tensioning screw it would be much more useful and reliable.

Excellent product. This fits tightly on my Stag carbine without need for set screws. The 10X32 threads provide a modular platform for sling swivels--I installed an ACE 1/2" snap sling loop, but QD and conventional swivels would work just as well. Installation was a bit slower than with set-screw models, but the perfect fit and rock solid platform make up for it. This is an elegant solution to the problem of mounting accessories to non-railed carbines.

The CrossTac Front Sight Picatinny Rail is a very handy, practical device for the AR-15. How many seriously use the bayonet lug? With this device, you can. The CrossTac Rail is 3.5-inches of practical rail space utilizing an impractical bayonet lug. The Installation is simple. After you drift out the front sling swivel pin, the CrossTac Rail attaches over the bayonet lug and secures in the slot where the old pin and swivel went using a new supplied pin. Installation is quick using a pair of pliers and a brass tap. If it's too tight, use a rubber mallet and gently push it in place. For the hobbyist shooter, this will take no time. Once installed, you can now mount a bi-pod (using an adapter) or a picatinny-mounted light (or ETC) without needing to replace the existing handguards. Thanks Midway for having all of my shooting needs!
