Product Information

Designed for volume production, the Lee 6-Cavity Bullet Mold blocks are machined from commercial quality aluminum and feature steel bushing and alignment pins. Lee mold blocks are machined from aluminum blocks making them rust resistant. Aluminum molds heat up and cool down faster than iron or steel molds so good bullets can usually be produced after only a few casts. In addition, they are one-third the weight of iron or steel mold blocks for less fatigue during extended casting sessions. To ensure the best possible bullets, mold block halves are CNC machined for unmatched roundness and size control. Lee 6-Cavity molds come with a cam operated, hard-anodized sprue plate which is held tightly with tempered spring washers at each end. Weights given are Lee's weights with suggested alloy; actual weight may vary due to alloy mixture used. Handles ARE NOT included (#117-892).

Fins on bullets can be ...

Fins on bullets can be prevented by making sure that the alignment pins are seated completely. They have a tendency to pull out so that the shoulder of the pin is not flush or below the surface of the inside of the mold. While the mold is out of the handles, tap the pins in.

Great mold to cast ...

Great mold to cast bullets for hunting. After minor prep and full warm up, was dropping 0.359 high quality bullets after only 3 tries. Shoots very accurate in a Marlin 1894 lever action rifle. I also managed to install a gas check on the cast bullet to prevent leading my gun barrel using a Hornady camlock bullet puller. After lubing the bullet w/ wax and using the appropriate sized puller collet, insert about 1/8 of the bottom driving band of the cast bullet into the pullers collet fingers. Actuate the puller lever to squeeze down the bullet diameter just enough to install a gas check with hand pressure. Crimp the gas check using usual methods ( I use a Lee bullet sizer die). With lube and gas check, I can fire the bullet to 1,700 fps w/o leading my gun barrel. Ive done the same thing for my other cast bullets for pistol & rifle. This saved me a lot of dollar from buying FMJ bullets to fire full power loads in all my guns. Bullet is accurate to 75 yds. Retired lots of coyotes with my gun.

I have used Lee molds ...

I have used Lee molds exclusively. I only had 1 to fail and it was my fault. It had the fins described earlier. It is caused by overheating and warping the mold(using propane burner). I now do it the old-fashioned way, over a wood fire and get perfect bullets, as long as the lead doesn't get too cold.

Bullets work extremely ...

Bullets work extremely well in lever action rifles (Marlin 1894)and equally well in handguns, especially .357. Product did not wear well however, and now requires a great deal of force closing to prevent 'fins' on bullets.

This was the first bullet ...

This was the first bullet mould I had ever bought. I picked it because Lee seemed to have such a good reputation, and because the Lee products I had owned thus far had performed exceedingly well.At first, I was extreely disappointed. The bullets I was casting had large "cracks" in them, and everything I tried didn't work. I knew my lead was good, and borrowed a friend's steel mould and made some perfectly good bullets.In a last attempt to make this work, I spent some time re-cleaning the mould, oiling it with the alox wax lube (as per their instructions), and I REALLY REALLY "baked" the mould cavities in carbon from some lit matches. In other words, the cavities were COVERED in black soot.To anyone who owns a Lee aluminum bullet mould, this is the best piece of advice I can give. The bullets I was casting after that were perfect. Before I did this, maybe one in four bullets were acceptable. Now, every single bullet I was casting was perfect in every way. In a single session I could make 500 bullets, with no rejects.This is an excellent product, and it would be even better if Lee would stress how important this step is, and explain that it's OK for the cavities to be really "blackened". The more, the better.Having said that, I wholeheartedly recommend the Lee aluminum moulds. I own four now, and with this bit of advice make perfect bullets every time.
